Warning! Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy #7 below!

Marvel's version of Hercules is one of the oldest Avengers ever, as his roots go back hundreds of years before the superteam was ever formed. The bashful hero has seemingly made the most of his time on Earth, as it's revealed in the latest issue of Guardians of the Galaxythat he was actually a roadie for '80s new wave singer Adam Ant.

Hercules, based on the Greek God of the same name, first debuted in Journey into Mystery Annual #2 as an antagonist for Thor. He's since become a regular part of the Avengers and has become a significant part of their adventures since joining the team in the mid-60s. Given the character's age, there's a ton of leeway to play around with his backstory, as Hercules has seen it all in his hundreds (if not thousands) of years on Earth. So, naturally, Marvel just made the fact he was a roadie for Adam Ant canon.

In this week's Guardians of the Galaxy #7 by Al Ewing, Marcio Takara, Federico Blee, and VC's Cory Petit, Marvel Boy informs the rest of the team that he's dressed in the official full dress uniforms of the 18th Kree diplomatic gestalt, in an effort to aide negotiations following the Kree Imperium and the Skrull Empire coalition. Phyla-Vell is the first to comment that Marvel Boy is dressed like Adam Ant. When Groot responds that he doesn't understand the reference, Hercules reveals that he was a roadie for Adam Ant in 1982.

Hercules's time as a roadie would either fall under the last year of Adam Ant's time with the band Adam and the Ants, or the start of his solo career. The British new wave singer was best known for his hit songs "Stand and Deliver" and "Prince Charming" while performing in a boisterous outfit with a white stripe across his face. Marvel Boy definitely sports a similar look to the musician with his own white stripe and loud jacket.

There's even a third member who brings up Marvel Boy's Adam Ant-esque appearance, as Nova calls him a Dandy Highwayman. When Marvel Boy asks him how he even knows Adam Ant, Rider responds "the eighties were huge on Earth!" It seems Ewing must be an Adam Ant fan or really wanted to get in as many references as possible to the new wave artist. It makes for some hilarious moments between the Guardians of the Galaxy team and adds a fun new backstory for Hercules' life in the '80s. Even a God enjoys some '80s rock.
