Warning! Spoilers for Marvel's Alien #1.

Marvel Comics has unveiled new details about their upcoming Alien comic, as a brand-new Xenomorph called "the Alpha" will be introduced. Early previews and interviews with author Phillip Kennedy Johnson tease a fresh evolution to the terrifying creatures and the introduction of the new Xenomorph that will help bring all-new kinds of nightmares to the iconic franchise.

Last year, Marvel Comics announced that both the Alien and Predator series would get new comics following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney. While the new Predator series by Ed Brisson and Kev Walker will see the alien become the hunter, the new Alien series will take a more familiar path. The first Alien series will feature the creative team of  Johnson, Salvador Larroca, and Guru-eFX. Previously released previews have shown a full-blown rated-R series, with all the horror staples Alien fans could expect and then some with images showing face-huggers crawling up the bodies of victims, and a Xenomorph's mouse dripping wet in front of trapped humans.

In an interview with SyFy Wire, Johnson discussed what to expect in the upcoming Alien series. The story will follow Gabriel Cruz, who worked for the Weyland-Yutani corporation. After nearly dying at the hands of the Xenomorphs, he will team-up with a Bishop-model Android in order to find his son. Their journey won't be a fun road trip, as they'll encounter the deadly creatures - including a brand new evolution called the Alpha.

While teasing the horror elements and detail by Larocca, Johnson said the series will introduce "never-before-seen" creatures to the series.  If facing Xenomorphs wasn't hard enough, the fact that they're evolving into even more terrifying creatures is bad news for Cruz and his team. He expressed that he was excited to introduce "the Alpha," who will play a key part in the evolution of Xenomorphs. Johnson further teased more variations on Xenomorphs that were described as "upsetting."

For fans of Alien and horror, it seems that both Johnson and Larocca are really going all-out in making this new chapter to the franchise one of the more violent and creepy Xenomorph stories ever told. Johnson even admitted in the interview that he wants to find new ways to "shock and disturb the reader." So, for those thinking the Alien franchise might get watered down now that it's published by the House of Mouse, it's pretty apparent that's not the case and that the new series will bring all of the horror elements fans crave. Alien #1 by Marvel Comics is in store on March 24, 2021.
