Margaret "Peggy" Carter was the principal character in the Marvel series Agent Carter, which ran from 2015 to 2016 with two seasons. She was brought to life by the extremely talented Hayley Atwell and provided for badass entertainment. Although the series was canceled and left viewers with a cliffhanger, Agent Carter has since become an inspiration to viewers and left a memorable statement.

Carter was a leading lady who brought the sass and class to a male-dominated world and she knew her worth. But even in the world of fan art, strong women are still represented in a skewed light. Fortunately, here are 10 pieces of fan art that don't just go against that norm, but would also be pieces that Peggy Carter herself would approve of.

"Agent." (By C-A-Y)

Peggy Carter is a boss. She's confident, intelligent, hard-working, and persistent. She didn't change who she was to fit into her workplace. She was always unapologetically herself, despite the presence of her company.

This piece by c-a-y honors the strong presence she created through sheer will and skill. When asked "What's your name, darling?" Carter's response to this blatant form of sexualization was, simply, "Agent."

Strategic Scientific Reserve (By Danidraws)

Artist danidraws has created fan art of the main characters in Season 1 of Agent Carter. All of Peggy's friends and co-workers can be seen here, all drawn to perfection with a distinctly animated style.

Standing with a jug of coffee is Angie, the waitress, actress, and one of Peggy's closest friends. Jarvis with his blue tie and weary expression. Howard Stark holding one of his inventions. Dottie Underwood with an evil glint in her eyes. Chief Dooley who came around in the end. Jack Thompson, whose fate was left unanswered. Doctor Fennhoff with his hypnotizing ring. And Daniel Sousa, who has a special kind of worry for Peggy.

Just Another Day On The Job! (By Larkie-Star)

A review for Agent Carter by Hello Tailor was able to summarize Peggy's fighting style quite succinctly: "Peggy Carter's fighting style has none of the artistry of characters like Melinda May or Black Widow. She basically slams heavy objects into men until they fall over, which is very satisfying to watch."

Throughout the series, Peggy uses an assortment of items including a stapler, to render her opponents unconscious. She has the fighting capability where she can choose to be crafty, but often chooses heavy objects, because why not? This badassery was captured perfectly by artist Larkie-Star.

I Know My Value (By Frotu)

Peggy was enlisted by Howard Stark to investigate the criminal activity surrounding his stolen inventions. Long story short, Peggy saves the day with her charming and endearing sidekick Jarvis. But she doesn't get the credit.

When asked by fellow agent Daniel Sousa how she could sit there and take it when Thompson is given the credit for the success of the investigation, Peggy says "I don't need a congressional honor. I don't need Agent Thompson's approval or the President's. I know my value. Anyone else's opinion doesn't really matter." This moment was lovingly immortalized by artist Frotu.

Raw (By DafnaWinchester)

It is in Captain America: The First Avenger where viewers witness Peggy break down after Steve crash-landed into the Arctic. Her feelings were valid and she let herself value them. This heartache was reflected perfectly by artist DafnaWinchester, who used Peggy's mourning in the show as reference.

In Marvel's Agent Carter, she tried to shield herself from losing anyone else, telling Jarvis "I seem to have a habit of losing people closest to me. Perhaps 'losing' is too nice a word. I get them killed." Jarvis imparted these words of wisdom. "There is not a man or woman, no matter how fit he or she may be, who is capable of carrying the entire world on their shoulders. From what Mr. Stark has told me, Captain Rogers relied heavily on you. For courage, strategy, and moral guidance. You were his support. Your desire to help others is noble, but I doubt you'll find much success unless you allow others to help you."

On The Battlefield (By VarshaVijayan)

Peggy isn't afraid to go into the field; she understands what is necessary. In the Agent Carter Season 1 episode "The Iron Ceiling," she is trusted with a mission to the country Belarus.

Peggy enlists the help of The Howling Commandos and everything that follows is a display of her truly boss field skills. Peggy saved a frozen Agent Thompson despite his constant sexist remarks towards her position in the S.S.R. This moment was recreated perfectly by VarshaVijayan.

Seeing Red (By Ratscape)

Agent Carter's red hat and blue outfit are iconic, and this artist has used the bold colors in an epic print artwork. The details are simple yet eye-catching. The first episode of the series has a scene of Peggy walking to work. Doesn't sound interesting, does it? Except it is.

Peggy makes her way through a sea of men in grey and brown suits on the street. She enters her workplace and the same is seen, but Peggy isn't fazed. Artist ratscape recreates this moment perfectly with this minimalist tribute.

Not Just A Love Interest (By Ilojleen)

Peggy does what it takes. She's ruthless and stands by her gut, but she isn't heartless. When the death of a fellow agent occurred, she felt it just as much as the others, although that particular member of the S.S.R. was a mouthy co-worker who cheated on his wife with his girlfriend. She is constantly seen as weak, a love interest.

Her time with Captain America became falsely exaggerated on a radio show, starring Betty Carver, the damsel in distress. She later found herself having to defend the action of admiring a photo of Steve in a file she needed when a male co-worker saw her, even though they did not comment. Agent Carter waded through the sexism and Peggy showed everyone that she wasn't just a love interest. This is amazingly memorialized by artist Ilojleen.

In The Shadows (By Crespella)

Agent Carter was trained to be an agent because women were unassuming, they could walk down the street without drawing attention to themselves during the war. When Howard Stark approached her to help clear his name she had to work in the shadows. No one doubted that she wasn't suspicious. She was the agent who fetched coffee and got lunch orders, but she used it to her advantage.

Carter used ladies' things to leave work for her own investigation and pouring coffee as a way to eavesdrop. She used a perfume bottle to diffuse a bomb and Sweet Dreams lipstick to manipulate men who saw her as a conquest. Artist crespella reflects Peggy's skills at spywork through this stunningly moody piece.

A Life Of Adventure (By Miccherry)

Peggy grew up with her brother Michael Carter and the two made for an adventurous sibling duo. Despite their mother telling Peggy to become more ladylike, Michael admired Peggy and helped to nurture her fighting spirit. In the year 1940 Peggy became engaged to Fred, but she found herself facing another proposal at the same time. The recruitment into war division, Special Operations Executive (S.O.E.), as a field agent.

Her brother had recommended her, "don't worry what other people think. You are meant to fight. Stop pretending to be someone that you're not." When he died in the war, Peggy took the opportunity, leaving her codebreaking job and fiancé for a life she always dreamed of: a life of adventure. This freedom was captured beautifully by miccherry.
