Marvel's 616 officially has a release date, with the docuseries arriving on Disney+ in November, just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Disney's streaming service is set to be the home of almost all things MCU, with several original programs centered around Marvel characters in the work. Arguably just as exciting as the original scripted series, however, is a series that will examine the rich history of the Marvel brand, including the artists who shaped the company into what is today.

Marvel revealed on their website Wednesday that Marvel's 616 would hit Disney+ on November 20, just a few days prior to Thanksgiving. The series will consist of eight episodes, though it's not yet clear if all of the episodes will release at once or if they'll come out separately on a weekly basis, which is the preferred rollout strategy for most Disney+ programs. As for the title, it's a reference to Marvel's comic book universe.

Marvel released footage for the docuseries a couple of months ago. One clip was directed by Gillian Jacobs (of Community fame) and focused on the women who helped to build the Marvel Comics brand. Another featured comedian Paul Scheer discussing the lesser known characters in the Marvel Comics universe. Marvel's 616 is an anthology series, so each episode promises to focus on a specific topic.

Marvel has become arguably the biggest name in all of cinema, but many fans of the current MCU may not know the fascinating comics background of the company. Marvel's 616 will have something for everyone when it premieres on November 20.
