Avengers: Infinity War may have many Marvel fans anxiously clamoring for more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to be released every year, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says that won't happen unless Marvel has "very good reasons" for doing so.
After this past weekend, a lot of Marvel fans have begun to speculate about the movies that Marvel already has in the pipeline and how they will play into the story of Infinity War. Those fans are also formulating theories and doing all kinds of crazy math to figure out exactly where Marvel plans to take the MCU next. With the next MCU releases being Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018 and Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 in 2019, some have begun requesting that Marvel release more movies each year to meet their exceeding demands of the franchise.

In an interview with Collider, Feige said that he would not mind getting to the point where the studio released up to four movies per year, but only under certain conditions:
"It depends on what happens with big corporate deals, it depends on how we’re feeling as a studio to grow. We always intended to just do two a year until we got to a natural place where it felt like not doing three meant we were holding things back or preventing work from being done. Totally comfortable with three a year, which we’ve been doing for a few years now. If it ever gets to four, it would only be for very good reasons."
Feige didn't detail out what those reasons are, although it does seem that money might play a factor in such a decision. Infinity War took in a cool $640.9 million globally over its opening weekend, and it's likely that it will go on to make even more once fans return to theaters to see it again and as others get around to seeing it for the first time. But keeping the number of movies released per year down gives Marvel more time to focus on each film, including the next Avengers movie, which will feature even more characters, as well as a story that Marvel has already promised is bigger and better.
Whatever Marvel Studios decides, it has a dedicated fanbase that will continue to throw money at the MCU. But maybe Marvel is smart in not releasing four movies a year: in this case, perhaps less is more.
