Hasbro's Marvel Legends series is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of a new set of action figures. With Black Panther coming out Friday, Avengers: Infinity War set for May and Ant-Man & The Wasp next in July, it's going to be a big year for the MCU, which officially kicked off on May 2, 2008 with Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role. With several more Marvel comic book legends getting their own big screen treatments in the years since, including Captain America, Thor, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Hasbro has been steadily producing figures of the superheroes in movie form as part of its Marvel Legends line.

Featuring a mix between the comic book renditions and the movie interpretations of the characters, the most recent Marvel Legends series focused on the Black Panther solo movie, and in addition to an upcoming series for Avengers: Infinity War, fans will be treated to a special assortment for the 10th anniversary of the MCU. Judging by this first look, the assortment will apparently include new sculpts and characters that weren't produced for previous Marvel Legends six-inch figure assortments.

According to Toy Ark, two of the releases were revealed Tuesday online. In a perfect precursor to the country's biggest annual toy event with the International Toy Fair, which begins Saturday and runs through February 20 in New York City, photos of two releases surfaced: a two-pack featuring Captain America vs. Crossbones from Captain America: Civil Warand a solo figure release depicting Iron Man in his Mark VII armor from The Avengers. Update: Marvel's Ryan Penagos revealed some of the new figures at New York Toy Fair 2018. Check them out:

The Captain America/Crossbones release is labeled #9 in the assortment, and Iron Man Mark VII is #3. If Hasbro goes with 10 figures in the assortment (which would make sense, with it marking the MCU's 10th anniversary), then it is possible that fans will see at least seven more releases, or possibly eight (depending if the two-pack is considered a single release, or two of the 10 figures).

Fans definitely have a good reason to be excited by these first reveals. For one, they're getting a movie Crossbones figure (and an alternate head with the likeness of Frank Grillo), which has never been done before. And since the toymakers apparently have finally secured the rights to reproduce his likeness, the Captain America figure will finally look like Chris Evans. Up until now, the Marvel Legends Captain America figures have featured a generic head sculpt of Captain America with blond hair that looked nothing like the actor. But now, along with an early peek at his Infinity War figure, it appears Evans has finally signed off on his action figures.

In all likelihood, the rest of the MCU 10th Anniversary assortment will be revealed by Hasbro during Toy Fair, and with any luck, fans will get a few more figures of characters that haven't been produced yet, including Vision (Paul Bettany) from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) from Captain America: The First Avenger, and either Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and/or Heimdall (Idris Elba) from the Thor films. Whatever the case may be, it's good to see that Hasbro is continuing to produce the MCU's legendary characters from its illustrious past as the movie series moves forward.
