Brett Layton and Ryan Ignasiak didn't have the happiest Married at First Sight journey, but Brett is on the road to recovery since filming. While both were open-minded and Ryan claimed he tried to be proactive in relationships, he wasn't as interested as Brett in making the relationship work. In the beginning, Ryan promised Brett "faithfulness, respect," and, "more laughs than he could ever put into words." However, they weren't able to become one of the MAFS couples still together.

A longtime fan of the series, Brett told Ryan that she would nurture and protect his heart. She also joked that they both must want commitment, so they were off to a good start. However, when Brett got a text from a friend revealing that Ryan was on a dating app, her belief in his devotion waned. Ryan matched up with a mutual acquaintance and made it clear that he couldn't wait out the final week. She felt that Ryan was afraid of being honest in a relationship and couldn't own up to his lack of attraction to her. He also beat around the bush when it came to wanting to sleep in separate bedrooms. As MAFS season 17 continues to unfold, it's time to see how Brett is doing.

Brett Knew She And Ryan Needed To Divorce On MAFS

On decision day, Brett said she felt the split was fated from the beginning, as they weren't on the same page. While some MAFS fans thought Brett and Ryan would last, the couple agreed that they were ready to get a divorce. While Brett's social media is private, she seemed to have a good attitude towards going their separate ways, despite the difficulty of the journey. Ryan's sister also revealed on decision day that Brett had met someone while filming and had ongoing conversations with a potential partner during the show.

Brett Is Still A Teacher and Coach After MAFS

Brett is also likely continuing her work as a teacher and coach in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Brett has worked in the district for almost seven years. While Brett and Ryan didn't ultimately last, she had plenty of hobbies and friends to keep her busy. In her free time, in addition to potentially dating someone new, Brett calls herself a "car and shower performer" on her Instagram bio, hinting at some non-professional songstress skills.

While Brett may be maintaining a low profile since filming, fans undoubtedly want the best for her. Not every romance on MAFS can be a success, and this was a tough season across the board for all the couples. At the very least, Brett did not regret joining Married At First Sight and, hopefully, is thriving at work and in her new dating life.
