Like night and day, Married At First Sight’s Noi Phommasak and Steve Moy took to Instagram in very different ways to address their split. On the show, the couple seemed to be relatively drama-free compared to many of the other couples. Fans appeared to be rooting for them to stay together when witnessing their initial chemistry during the show, but cracks in their relationship started to leave doubts that it would last.

Noi and Steve first appeared on season 14 of Married At First. Their coupling was tame compared to other season 14 matches, such as the Lyndsey and Olajuwon airplane bust-up. The couple kept quiet about their relationship status after the show, only minimally alluding to their marriage or lack thereof. From noticing that Noi appeared to be more in love with Steve than he was with her, fans started to dissect their relationship. For instance, it was pointed out that she was not into his outdoor hobbies, which appeared to be another no for him in terms of their compatibility. Noi’s apparent hopeless romantic side also admittedly intimidated Steve and made him appear to be less committed.

Whatever happened between Noi and Steve appears to be kept contained as Noi posted Instagram stories set to breakup music, which could either mean she’s putting herself back on the market with a “Divorce feels good” caption of herself smiling on a paddle board and a “Take back your narrative (even though your voice shakes)” on the same paddle board as she seems to have disabled comments but left her DM open or Noi is playing it safe and self-filtering by keeping fans informed and yet herself somewhat private. Steve, however, responded through his Instagram, apparently taken aback at the sudden outing of their private split with a lengthy text on his Instagram. “We have been apart for a little while now, to the point of moving on, with hope pretty much fading for any chance we could recover…This surprise announcement is a signal that it’s definitely time to let go.” Steve chose to leave on comments, but obviously was not happy about having to address the divorce so suddenly.

Noi apparently responded to Steve’s lengthy Instagram statement, calling him out to be honest about their divorce. Noi commented on Steve’s post, “You asked for the divorce….I BEGGED you to stay and you said – you don’t OWE me anything... you said you were already seeing other people.” Before Noi’s comment was deleted, it was reposted on Monsters & Critics.

It seems that Noi tried to be subtle about her hurt over the divorce, but that it came across as immature and was a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. The Married At First Sight pair had their public moment of drama after all, with many commenting on Steve’s post that he was ready for marriage and will find the right woman. The comments left on Steve’s post have mostly been that of support and congratulating him on his response and that he did not let anyone down in the contentious issue of keeping things private. Steve’s lengthy response could either seem thoughtful or calculated as it did elicit an explosive emotional response from Noi. Whether intentional or not, the two knew how to get at each other online and could possibly patch things up between themselves in some kind of friendly relationship when things have calmed down.
