Sheila Downs endured an especially difficult experience on Married At First Sight season 5, but things have turned around for the television personality in 2021. Sheila took part in one of the most disastrous marriages on Married At First Sight that crashed and burned shortly after her season of the dating show. Although she had a disappointing reality TV journey, Sheila remains an optimist in 2021.

Married At First Sight fans watched Sheila walk down the aisle during the season 5 premiere on April 20, 2017. At the time of her marriage, Sheila was a 30-year-old school district family director living in Chicago. Sheila was paired with Nate Duhon, a car rental company manager that was 26 years old. Unfortunately, Sheila and Nate's marriage was full of conflict during their weeks on the show. First off, Sheila had to work to prove to Nate's family that she was a worthy wife. Additionally, Sheila was concerned that Nate was an untrustworthy husband. Sheila felt overwhelmed and broke the fourth wall, admitting she didn't want to have vulnerable arguments with Nate in front of a camera crew. On Married At First Sight's Decision Day, however, Sheila and Nate agreed their marriage was worth continuing to fight for.

Regrettably, Sheila's relationship with Nate did not get better with time. Shortly after the end of her Married At First Sight experience, Sheila exposed Nate for cheating on her. In a now-deleted tweet from November 2017, Sheila tweeted, "Just got a call from the woman who's been sleeping with my husband...the same woman who he called on the honeymoon." Sheila added Nate admitted he cheated and her fears of infidelity were warranted, but the car rental manager denied her allegations. Frustrated with Nate's response, Sheila continued to air out her feelings, "When I got married, I meant FOREVER. I unfortunately was the only one." Suffice to say, Sheila and Nate's marriage ended in divorce after Married At First Sight, but Sheila hasn't stopped pursuing her "Happily Ever After."

In 2021, Sheila has maintained a low-profile life. The reality television star has made herself private on her Instagram account, happyfromwithin. In her bio, Sheila acknowledges the harrowing experiences she's faced on and off of TV, describing herself as a woman "forged" by fire that "some women are burned by." Although Sheila's Instagram is meant to be exclusive, she has garnered 57,700 followers. According to Biography Tribune, an outlet that has access to Sheila's Instagram, she has been dating businessman Terrell Wilson. Although her Instagram is private, Sheila's accounts on Twitter and Facebook are public, where she goes by the name "Sheila Latrice." Sheila's take on love in 2021 can be summed up by her tweet from May, "I used to love hard. Now I love accordingly." Sheila's marriage to Nate Duhon on Married At First Sight was trying, but Sheila is all the wiser from her experience in 2021.

Sheila had one of the least desirable of any Married At First Sight outcomes in 2017, but she has moved on from the heartache in 2021. Instead of focusing on how her marriage to Nate combusted, Sheila currently spreads messages of contentedness to her private and public followers. With a new attitude and perhaps a new man, Sheila has put her tortuous Married At First Sight experience out of sight and out of mind in 2021.
