The hit Lifetime matchmaking show Married at First Sight is exactly what it sounds like, as a cast of brave singles appears on the series, entrusting their futures to a team of experts. They meet their future spouses for the first time at the altar. Fans are curious about the couples of MAFS season 12, and there's plenty to learn about these pairs.
Virginia & Erik
26-year-old Virginia, who works as a customer experience specialist for a marketing agency, will wed 34-year-old Erik, a commercial pilot and a member of the Air Force Reserves. Erik spent his twenties focusing on his career, which has negatively affected his relationships in the past. He is the first cast member in Married at First Sight history to have been previously married. Erik has been divorced for three years. Virginia has been single for the past five years but now feels ready for a serious commitment. She has dealt with attachment issues and fear of abandonment due to her parents' messy divorce. She previously pushed away partners before they had a chance to hurt her. Virginia has a large group of friends that she loves to spend time with, and Virginia hopes to marry someone who will join her on her social outings. Although Virginia enjoys drinking on her nights out, Erik is a self-described "traditional guy" who comes from a "conservative family."
Paige & Chris
Paige and Chris have both built successful careers and are now ready for a marriage rooted in faith. Children are important to both of them. Paige hopes to start having kids in the first one to two years of her marriage, while Chris is open to having a maximum of seven kids. "Your name is your brand, your last name is your business... If you have kids, your job is to train them to replicate yourself,” said Chris. He often fears that women are only after him for his money, but 26-year-old Paige is a successful accountant and realtor who bought her own home at age 20.
Her new husband Chris overcame a period of homelessness and is now making six figures as a finance manager. 27-year-old Chris is also the owner of a Subway franchise and was previously an ordained minister. He enjoys the finer things in life, and his shoe collection features over thirty pairs. He also orders take-out for every meal. Both Chris and Paige are deeply religious. Paige expressed her desire for a "God-fearing" husband. Even though Paige's parents are divorced, marriage is important to her and she has been dreaming of her future husband since she was a child. Sexuality is also important to both Chris and Paige. Chris's dream woman is “intelligent, submissive, sexy, good in bed, and a freak... Life without those things would be a sad Christopher with blue b*lls.” Chris from MAFS was previously engaged twice, most recently only three months before he began filming Married at First Sight.
Clara & Ryan
Free-spirited flight attendant Clara was matched with Ryan, a self-described "calculated, routine person." Ryan, who works as a project manager for a software company, grew up as one of the only Black kids in a predominately white neighborhood. He has previously dated outside his race. Clara has also been in numerous interracial relationships and prefers men who are "ethnically ambiguous." The experts hope that 27-year-old Clara will be patient with 29-year-old Ryan as he learns to open up. He has never said "I love you" to anyone outside of his family. Clara is a passionate person who is an advocate for “social rights, civil rights, [and] women's’ rights.” She also enjoys spending time with her dog. Ryan also lives an active lifestyle. He works out every single day after work and is even building a gym in his garage.
Briana & Vincent
The Married at First Sight matchmaking experts paired Briana, a detail-oriented engineer, with Vincent, a kind-hearted business owner. 28-year-old Briana is used to working on messy construction sites but keeps her own home meticulously organized and clean. She loves to unwind with her pet Yorkie and describes herself as a “goofy ball of energy.” Because she is so motivated to succeed in her own career, she's looking for a "go-getter" who makes more money than her. She also hopes that her husband will have big hands.
28-year-old Vincent is an auto broker who took a chance on starting his own business. Unfortunately, his last relationship ended because his ex-girlfriend didn't support his new business. However, he enjoys being a "fun uncle" to his nephew and looks forward to being a good father to his future children, despite growing up with an absent father of his own. Vincent even gave away several pairs of shoes to a homeless man at his local gas station.
Hailey & Jacob
The experts believe that 28-year-old Haley and 38-year-old Jacob will be a successful reality couple, despite their 10-year age difference. Jacob is a self-described "nerd" who loves Eighties movies and fashion. He also enjoys home improvement projects and even turned the backyard of his Atlanta home into a beach. Jacob eats a unique diet of primarily steak and eggs and is attracted to "women with big noses." Hopefully, Jacob's three dogs will get along with Haley's beloved pup.
Haley, who works as a sales representative, hasn't been in a relationship for seven years but she has served as a bridesmaid in fourteen of her friends' weddings. Her first relationship was emotionally volatile and ended when her ex-boyfriend got another girl pregnant. Now, it's Haley's turn to tie the knot. She hopes to wed a mature and committed MAFS partner who will join her on her travels.
During episode 2 of Married at First Sight, the couples will meet each other for the first time and say, "I do." They will then navigate the milestones of newlywed life, including a honeymoon, moving in together, and meeting each other's families, before deciding whether to remain married or get divorced at the end of the Married at First Sight experiment.
