Season 10 of Married at First Sight was ultra-dramatic. Aside from quiet, self-professed "weirdos," Austin and Jessica, who recently bought a house and got a dog together, the couples of season 10 just could not make it work. Notoriously, Brandon Reid and Taylor Dunklin wound up getting restraining orders against one another. Things were not good in the House of MAFS, that's for sure, not even for Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman who, for a minute there, looked like they were going to make it.
However, Kate and Derek broke up and Katie's now engaged to a man named Brandon Eaves. Katie met Brandon on Hinge in pre-pandemic 2020. For their first date, he asked her out for dinner and just happened to pick her favorite restaurant without knowing it was her favorite. After dinner, the two spent five hours talking and getting to know each other. Katie was quickly smitten.
Enter the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though the world was locked down, Katie and Brandon lived in the same neighborhood and were able to still see each other and spend time together. On May 10, Katie made their relationship Instagram-official. On Christmas Eve 2020, she announced they were engaged. Despite a terrible first marriage, Katie was ready to tie the knot again. But just who is this new fiancé? A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Brandon went on to receive his Masters in Information Technology from Virginia Tech (via LinkedIn). Since July 2020, he's been working as an instructor at the United States Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.
Katie's previous marriage to Derek was, of course, a rough one. Katie was infamous for insisting she was much more mature than everyone else her age, but then letting her insecurities get the best of her and picking fights with Derek to test his feelings for her. It wasn't a great look, no, but Derek wasn't necessarily equipped to manage her needs either. It was all pretty exhausting. In short, they were simply not a match.
Considering Katie was constantly complaining about Derek's "boy-like" personality, perhaps an Air Force man will be more her speed. As for whether or not the former Married at First Sight bride is still in DC or has moved to Mississippi to be with Brandon, it's unclear! Katie has gone private on all her socials. It seems she's traded the reality TV world for the real world.
