Star of Married At First Sight Chris Williams is a walking red flag. From his behavior at the wedding to his appalling treatment of his new bride, Paige Banks, the successful business owner is the personification of the man parents tell their daughters to stay away from. Now, fans are calling him out for only doing the show for money.
Season 12 of Married At First Sight is the most chaotic yet, mostly because of Chris. Fans of the show are dumbfounded that his narcissistic personality made it past the experts, lending more credence to already-existing doubts about the professionals' expertise. Unfortunately for Paige, wasted time is likely all she will have by the end of this season. Chris has not put in effort so far. He said to the producers he was not “100% attracted” to Paige, but went ahead and slept with her on their wedding night anyway. Chris knew he did not find her physically attractive, but proceeded to consummate their marriage to bring them closer together. The way he has navigated his time on the show so far has left viewers with a bad taste in their mouth when he comes on-screen.
Now, fans on Reddit have theorized that Chris went on Married At First Sight for money. Chris was evicted last year after his business went under. However, the native Chicagoan started three more companies. A fan chimed in and said, “Speaking as a lawyer, anybody can file Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization for a proposed business by paying a small fee to the Secretary of State ($100 to $110).” So, it is possible that, although he started his businesses, they may not yet be operational or profitable. Another fan said, “He has to be broke with the way he spends. I don't care how much money he makes. His whole outlook on life tells me that he probably has very little in savings, and would be in serious trouble if the money stopped coming in.”
More frustrated fans vented about the fact that the experts keep choosing narcissistic guys like Chris. However, it is evident where he gets this personality from, as viewers have also called his dad “creepy.” Obviously, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Could Chris have manipulated production and the experts to get on the show? Possibly.
Paige has already been through a lot with Chris and it seems like the drama isjust starting, as his ex-fiancée Mercedes Myrick might make an appearance on the show, with the surprise announcement that she is pregnant with Chris’s baby. Although fans have nothing but anger toward Chris, they are rooting for Paige and hoping she finds her happily ever after.
