Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis are the "it" couple of the popular reality series Married at First Sight. After meeting at the alter on the first season of the Lifetime Channel series the reality stars have remained married for six years. But even with their longevity, Jamie admits they are constantly working on their relationship.

The season one couple is most remembered for Jamie's open, lack of initial physical attraction to Doug. While that was a hurdle for the newlyweds to overcome it quickly became a thing of the past. Doug won his new wife's heart with his charm, patience, and sense of humor, among other things. Now, six years later they are the model couple for Married at First Sight and have expanded their family with two additions, two-year-old daughter Henley Grace and one-month-old son Hendrix Douglas.

Their chemistry has proven to be a great foundation for their marriage, but that has not exempted them from having marital issues. In an exclusive statement to Screen Rant Jamie shared what she and Doug are still working on:

Communication is something we are *still* working on. I'm a wide-open book and Doug is super closed off. We both need constant reminders to communicate effectively. For example, Doug won't share his feelings about anything unless I ask and pull it out of him. And as for me, I tell him how I feel about everything (and sometimes I need to let it go and not share) lol. So, yeah, we are 6 years married and still working on this!

Taking on difficult situations isn't unfamiliar to the couple, as they have overcome a number of hurdles in their marriage, including an unfortunate miscarriage in 2016. When asked about what is the biggest hurdles they have overcome Jamie stated:

Gosh, there are a few big hurdles we've overcome. First, it was the attention thing - but it didn't take too long to overcome that. The next big hurdle was losing our firstborn son, Johnathan. We both cope with pain and loss differently. Doug likes to move on and stay busy - almost pretending everything is fine. I literally couldn't move off the couch and I cried constantly. I didn't want to eat or sleep or watch TV...I just sat there and cried. This time was one of the most difficult of our lives for so many reasons. But we made it through together and became stronger both individually and as a couple because of it.

Doug and Jamie's journey began on Married at First Sight and continues to blossom into a heartwarming love story. As they continue to grow in their marriage and allow the world in through the Married at First Sight platform and their podcast, Hot Marriage Cool Parents, we can look forward to witnessing their prospering love warming our hearts for many years to come.
