Married at First Sight's Domynique Kloss is always talking about how she values positive energy and hates complainers, yet she constantly speaks negatively about her husband, Mackinley “Mack” Gilbert. At only 25 years old, Domynique is one of the younger participants in the MAFS series. The experts have tried to justify choosing her by labeling her an “old soul.” However, she is not coming across as very mature.
A big red flag from the beginning has been that Domynique did not even make the decision to marry a stranger on national TV herself. It was her mother who signed her up to be on Married at First Sight season 16. Whether Domynique's mom did that because she wants her daughter to find love or because she wants her to be famous is unclear. However, one thing that is clear is that Domynique was not ready to make this big step in life.
MAFS’s Domynique’s Words Don’t Match Her Actions
Domynique considers herself to be a positive, outgoing, bubbly person who is a joy to be around. She often says that she has no room for negative energy in her life, yet every word she says about her new husband is negative. Domynique says how Mack always complains and criticizes him for not being adventurous, despite him uprooting his entire life to move to Nashville and marry a stranger. Many MAFS fans commented how Domynique won’t give Mack a real chance. In the Reddit thread started by u/SenorDipstick, they wrote, “she thinks she is so positive and he is negative and this is while she is complaining about him all the time.”
Neither Domyniques's Mor Mack’s Expectations Were Met
While Domynique's concerns about Mack living in a friend’s basement is understandable, both Mack and MAFS expert Pastor Cal Roberson have made it clear that he is financially stable. Mack is 10 years older than Domynique, so she probably expected him to have a house or at least his own apartment. However, a true positive thinker would look at this as an opportunity for them to get a place together. Instead, Domynique, who shouldn't have been cast on MAFS, only sees it as a shortcoming. “I think she almost enjoys critiquing him,” commented one Reddit user. It is certainly no mystery why Mack wasn’t jumping up and down when Domynique was showing him her apartment, considering how condescending she was when he showed her his living space. However, she seemed unable to connect the dots.
The Married at First Sight experts should have seen that this match was going to be a disaster. With their extensive experience in psychology and matchmaking, the experts should have figured out that Dominique was not the rose-colored glasses person she claimed to be. After all, it seems clear that Dominique’s words and actions are as mismatched as she and her husband are. Perhaps Dominique and Mack, who likely split, were matched purely for entertainment and drama, which is what the producers have been accused of.
