A new fan video has imagined how Donkey Kong could sound with Seth Rogen's iconic laugh. It was recently announced that Rogen has been cast in the upcoming film, MARIOan adaptation of the iconic Nintendo game Super Mario Bros, as the voice of Donkey Kong. The character of Donkey Kong is a gorilla, known for being a bit of a brute, and was one of Mario's earliest antagonists within the highly-popular Nintendo franchise. Though the character is known for his many appearances throughout the Super Mario games over the years, Donkey Kong was actually the protagonist in his own arcade game, Donkey Kong, first (in which Mario actually made his debut).

The upcoming MARIO boasts an incredibly stacked voice cast alongside Rogen. Chris Pratt is set to star as Mario himself, with Charlie Day tapped to play his brother Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy will voice Princess Peach and Jack Black will voice another of Mario's foes, Bowser. Following the announcement that Rogen would be portraying the fan-favorite character, many began to speculate whether Donkey Kong would share a certain Rogen trademark. The Pineapple Express actor is known for his rather unique laugh and has become the subject of a number of memes and YouTube compilations over the years, due to its distinct and contagious nature.

Now, a hilarious fan video posted to Twitter by the user Cybershell has imagined just how Donkey Kong could sound if he adopted Seth Rogen's famous laugh. The short clip shows one of the older iterations of Donkey Kong, dubbed over with Rogen's instantly recognisable chuckle. The clip quickly went viral, receiving over twenty-five thousand likes and thousands of shares since it was posted. Check out the full clip below:

Rogen has provided the voice for a number of animated characters over the years, more recently when he voiced Pumbaa in Disney's live-action The Lion KingThe actor also lent his voice to 2008's Horton Hears a Who, as well as all three of the Kung Fu Panda films, alongside MARIO co-star, Jack Black. Rogen's newest project joins a rather packed roster of upcoming video game adaptations, including the sequel to 2020's Sonic The Hedgehog, Borderlands, and Uncharted, to name just a few.

Whether Rogen's iconic laugh makes it into the final cut of MARIO, or whether it will be left on the cutting room floor, remains to be seen. The addition of Rogen to the cast was certainly well received by many, and those who grew up with the Super Mario Bros games will likely be interested to see what the actor will bring to this well-established character. Few details are known about the plot of the film as of now, but it is likely Rogen's role will be fairly significant, since Donkey Kong has been largely present throughout the Mario franchise since it's conception. Audiences have a little while to wait, however, as MARIO is currently slated for release on December 21, 2022.
