The next big event in Mario Kart Tour is being teased and it looks as if the Mushroom Kingdom gang is headed down under. Alongside the new map, the teaser hints at new skins for some popular characters. The mobile game is currently wrapping up its Ninja Tour.

Mario Kart Tour is the mobile version of Nintendo's racing series, first launching in 2019. Despite the move to mobile devices, the gameplay remains fairly similar to its console counterparts. Every two weeks, a new themed tour is released, typically with three new tracks and a bonus challenge. However, fans have expressed their concern regarding the gacha element of Mario Kart Tour. Players can pay for the chance to unlock certain kart parts or characters.

The official Mario Kart Tour Twitter page posted the below image, revealing that the next themed tour is the Sydney Tour. While it doesn't reveal any information about the new courses, the art does feature Baby Mario in a new koala-themed outfit. It seems very likely that this will be one of the skins available during the event. The art also shows Rosalina in a summery beach outfit, almost identical to her skin from the 2020 Marine Tour. It's probably safe to say that this fan-favorite look is making a return for the Sydney Tour. There may also be a new skin for Toad with a tourist-like vibe if the picture is anything to go by.

Through the app itself, players can get a glimpse of the new course itself. It prominently features Sydney Harbor Bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks. Mario Kart Tour has visited other prominent international landmarks, so this reference is not unbelievable. The same bridge can be spotted in the background of the promotional art. Given the track's proximity to the ocean, an underwater segment seems likely.

The Sydney Tour has been teased in Mario Kart Tour for a while. Fans in the comments were quick to point out that a tugboat similar to Sydney Harbor's ferries appears on the SNES Koopa Troopa Beach 2 Glider Challenge. The stage appeared in both of the aforementioned cups, Marine and Ninja. Players are excited to play such a heavily-teased new Tour, especially one with a new course to explore. It's also fascinating to see how the Mario Kart Tour developers adapt real-world locations into their mascot's world. More details, including a promotional video, should be released closer to the Tour's start date on April 21st. Until then, players will have to settle for the tropical teaser seen above.
