Mario and friends are putting on their best golfing outfits for the upcoming Mario Golf: Super Rush. The Mario Golf series hasn't had an entry in seven years, and it's been 18 since the last home console release on the GameCube. The game is coming to the Switch in late June, complete with a new story mode for Super Rush, and multiple online game modes. The latest Mario Golf was announced earlier this year in a Nintendo Direct, and has just received a second trailer providing more details on what players can expect this summer.

Par for the course with Nintendo's party games, Mario Golf: Super Rush will feature a whole cast of characters from its iconic franchises. Mario has the honor of appearing in the game's title, but 15 other character will join him. In addition to the 16 Mario characters that will be available, players will also be able to use their custom-made Mii on the links, just like they did for golf in Wii Sports. Mii golfers will be used for the story mode, where leveling up will increase their stats, but they'll also be available for the other game modes.

Previous entries in the Mario Golf series required players to unlock characters in some way, such as beating a computer controlled version in a head to head match. So far, there's no indication whether or not that's the case in Super Rush as well. Perhaps all characters will be available from the start, like in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Every Character Revealed in the Super Rush Trailer

Characters revealed for Mario Golf: Super Rush in the Overview Trailer

The above image comes from the Mario Golf: Super Rush Overview Trailer, where these 16 characters were announced following the handful confirmed in Super Rush's reveal trailer, which left the extent of the cast up to speculation. Here's the list of all 16 characters pictured:

  • King Bob-omb
  • Peach
  • Wario
  • Mario
  • Bowser
  • Luigi
  • Waluigi
  • Daisy
  • Donkey Kong
  • Toad
  • Pauline
  • Yoshi
  • Rosalina
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Chargin' Chuck
  • Boo

Most of the characters are ready to tee off, sporting new outfits just for Super Rush, although Chargin' Chuck is still wearing his football uniform and helmet. Past Mario Golf games have given the golfers alternate colors that can be chosen by the player, but so far every Super Rush character has only been shown in one outfit.

There's also some notable characters missing from the game, like Diddy Kong, Toadette, and Birdo. Chargin' Chuck and King Bob-omb especially feel like odd inclusions when more popular characters aren't on the roster yet. Perhaps some of these will have to be unlocked, or Nintendo is saving them for DLC sometime down the road. Either way, Mario Golf: Super Rush already has a decent cast of golfers that will provide plenty of statistical variation.
