As the preview shows, Winslet isn’t the only familiar face in the upcoming drama. Mare of Easttown’s cast also includes Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, Evan Peters, Cailee Spaeny, and Guy Pearce. The limited series, which is written and created by Brad Ingelsby, looks to follow the path of other HBO titles such as Sharp Objects and The Undoing. Those shows, in addition to Big Little Lies, garnered plenty of attention and acclaim for combining compelling performances with a general sense of mystery.

In the case of Winslet, the project counts as something of a reunion. Mare of Easttown marks her the first television role since 2011, when the actress won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance as the title character in HBO’s Mildred Pierce adaptation. Audiences will find out if Mare of Easttown is similarly successful when it premieres on April 18.
