The Many Saints Of Newark will release one week later than its previous date. The movie is a prequel of the hit HBO crime drama The Sopranoswhich revolved around a ruthless and depressed crime boss attending therapy. The Sopranos is widely regarded as one of the best television series in history due to the complexity of its immoral characters, winning multiple awards for stars James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, and the show itself. The show ran for six seasons from 1999-2007.

The Many Saints of Newark will explore the universe during the 1967 Newark riots, featuring the reign of the DiMeo crime family and the rise of  young gangsters. The film will also look at the life of a young Tony Soprano before he became the crime boss viewers grew to love on the HBO series. The Many Saints Of Newark is helmed by a longtime director of The Sopranos, Alan Taylor, and features Gandolfini's son, Michael, in his late father's role. It also stars Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, Michela De Rossi, John Magaro, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga.

Warner Bros. has now announced that The Many Saints Of Newark will now be released on October 1, 2021, moved back one week from its previously scheduled date of September 24. Tony Soprano in The Sopranos

As part of its release, The Many Saints of Newark will also simultaneously stream on HBO Max for 31 days so viewers will also have a chance to watch it at home. The Sopranos continues to be discovered by newer audiences and remains one of the most talked-about series, namely because of its speculative series finale in 2007, which ended abruptly by immediately cutting to black, leaving the audience uncertain about the fate of Tony and his family. The Sopranos finale continues to be analyzed to this day, with creator David Chase giving interviews on it for many years afterwards.

While viewers have to wait a week longer for the release of the prequel, The Many Saints of Newark shines a light on the admiration for The Sopranos and the lasting impact it has had on audiences and storytellers. There are many unknowns about the history of the crime life that influenced Tony Soprano, and it will be interesting to see what his boyhood was like. Audiences will find out when The Many Saints Of Newark releases in theaters and on HBO Max on October 1.
