The series aired for three seasons until it was canceled by NBC, at which point it was picked up by Netflix, who announced that they would renew Manifest for a two-part final season.
Manifest season 3, which concluded on June 10, 2021, left fans with many burning questions. However, one of the most intriguing is the mystery surrounding what happened to Cal Stone (Jack Messina), a young boy who came back to find that his twin sister is now five and a half years older than him. In the two-part Manifest season 3 finale, Cal touched the tailfin of the plane and vanished. He later reappeared, now five years older, and played by Ty Doran. Now that he has seemingly regained the years that were lost during the phenomenon that happened to the plane, there are even more mysteries to plumb.
Today, at their global fan event TUDUM, Netflix shared a trailer for Manifest season 4 volume 1, which will premiere on November 4. The trailer begins with a brief recap of the events so far, before ominously showing the Netflix logo, reminding those watching that the show is being concluded thanks to their ministrations. With a potential death date looming in 18 months, the leads of the series are rushing to put the pieces together as they realize everything is connected. The newly adult Cal also reveals that two years have passed since the season 3 finale, meaning that the characters have experienced almost double the amount of time that viewers have had to wait for season 4 in real life. How Will Manifest Season 4 End the Series?
As usually happens throughout any season of Manifest, this trailer shows that things will only get more and more mysterious before any solution is found. However, going into Manifest season 4 with the knowledge that it will conclude the series has allowed the writers to craft a concrete endpoint for the wide-ranging storylines. It seems clear from the trailer that, while there may be some threads that aren't completely tied up, they will be bringing in the series for a landing and solving most of its core mysteries.
It will be interesting for fans to see how Manifest season 4 as a whole will handle the new wrinkle caused by Cal's aging. The show will have to answer many questions, including whether he remembers doing anything in the five years he has regained, where he was during that time, and whether this is something that the other passengers of the plane can do if they wish. Much of the drama in the series has stemmed from the fact that the passengers' lives have moved on without them, and they may wish to attempt to reset themselves to iron out some of those problems.
