Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4, part 1

A hint in Manifest season 3 suggests that the passengers may not be able to stop the apocalypse. One of Manifest season 4’s biggest reveals was that the Death Date pertains to the end of the world. Apparently, a volcanic apocalypse is on its way, presumably in 2024 when their time is expected to run out.

Currently, the Flight 828 passengers are under the assumption that their purpose is to prevent the apocalypse. However, they could have it all wrong. In season 3, Saanvi discovered that the piece of driftwood from Noah’s Ark contained traces of sapphire, thus linking it to Flight 828’s disappearance. When it was found, this was treated as a clue about divine intervention, when in fact it may have been a hint about the true meaning of the Death Date. In the Bible, Noah’s Ark was built to survive the flood that ended human civilization. If this world-ending disaster wasn’t prevented in Biblical times, it may be that the same will be the case with Mount Ararat’s impending eruption.

What Are The Passengers Supposed To Do?

Manifest Season 4 Saanvi Michaela Eagan

Since Noah’s Ark and Flight 828 are connected, it’s worth wondering if their respective purposes in the divine consciousness’ plan are related as well. It’s well-known, of course, that the story of Noah’s Ark was never about saving the world from the flood. Instead, the point of all his efforts was to ensure that just enough humans and animals survived so that civilization could begin anew. With this being the case, the passengers may be forced to at least entertain the idea that they’re not supposed to stop this disaster either. The divine consciousness may want them to follow in the footsteps of Noah and just survive the coming disaster.

Of course, such a reveal would be a devastating discovery for Manifest’s main characters. Naturally, they’re determined to save everyone and would be hesitant to believe that 2024’s volcanic apocalypse is inevitable. And while this would provide the show with yet another shocking twist to throw at the passengers prior to the Manifest series finale, it may also be too tragic of an ending for the show. It remains to be seen if the show is willing to embark down that path.

If The Apocalypse Can Be Stopped, Cal Is The Key

Cal from season 4 of Manifest looking ill and older

If the volcano Callings in Manifest aren’t signaling a repeat of the Biblical flood, the passengers have one way of stopping the apocalypse that might have a chance of working. During their research, Olive and TJ found out that Cal’s dragon scar marks him as “the dragon” who can “tip the scales” and save the Lifeboat after touching the Omega Sapphire. Unless the two later realize that they misunderstood the prophecy, they may be able to hold onto the hope that the world can be saved. The new powers unlocked by Ty Doran’s Cal Stone in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale may be their one and only solution to saving the world – if it can be saved at all.
