Evidence in Manifest season 4 suggests that Angelina's death might be the real solution to the Lifeboat problem. After murdering Grace in the season 3 finale, Holly Taylor's character quickly emerged as the new main antagonist for the passengers. And based on how the first half of the season wrapped up, the characters may be dealing with the threat posed by Angelina up until the very end of the series.

For the majority of Manifest season 4, part 1, the conflict with Angelina was one of many dilemmas the passengers had to deal with. Her obsession with Eden made her a constant thorn in their side, but by the time of the finale, her role in the show had changed considerably. She inserted herself into the wider issue facing the protagonists by stealing the Omega Sapphire from Eagan and using its powers to become an even bigger threat. Based on how this fight with the passengers played out, it's possible that Angelina may fit directly into their journey to stop the Death Date. In fact, it's been theorized that killing her will be what saves the Lifeboat in the Manifest series finale.

Why Angelina May Be The Reason The Apocalypse Happens

Manifest Season 4 Volcano City

Angelina's final scene sets up a dark and violent future for her character. After her defeat, Angelina found a shard from the Omega Sapphire destroyed by Cal. The shard burned into her hand and was absorbed into the palm of her hand. By ending her story in this way, Manifest has made it possible for Angelina to keep her Omega Sapphire powers. And with the shard now being a part of her, her abilities may be permanent. If that's the case, Angelina may very well be the explanation for why the apocalypse happens.

The passengers understand at this point that the Death Date they've all been concerned about is actually the end of the world. Supposedly, the volcano Callings have bene pointing toward the world coming to a fiery, volcanic end on June 2, 2024. Since it's known that Angelina's use of the Omega Sapphire results in volcanic fissures, it stands to reason that her actions are what will eventually trigger the impending apocalypse. Continuing to abuse her divine abilities could be why Mount Ararat is expected to erupt later on in the show's story.

Can Angelina's Death Prevent The Apocalypse?

One of the implications that comes with this idea of Angelina causing the apocalypse is that her death would prevent it from happening. If the divine consciousness intends for the passengers to stop her from bringing about the end of the world, killing her would be the most obvious way of pulling that off. With that in mind, it seems extremely likely that this possibility will be entertained by the characters when Manifest returns.

For that reason, the passengers may soon have a massive, moral debate on their hands. Some, like Eagan, may be quick to embrace this solution if they come to the same conclusion about the Death Date. As for the Stones, though, it's unclear what their position will be. The world being at stake, as well as the fact that Angelina already murdered Grace, could make this a tempting fix to their problems. Even so, there could still be a great deal of division over this issue, as there's sure to be varying opinions on the matter.

Angelina isn't invincible, but the task of killing her won't be easy to achieve after the finale. Being able to create fake Callings gives Angelina a useful weapon against anyone who tries to eliminate her. Since the prophecy deciphered by Olive and TJ revealed that Cal, as the Dragon, can "tip the scales," some of the characters may take that to mean that Cal is supposed to his use his powers and connection to the Callings to not only beat, but kill Angelina.

Manifest Season 3 Hints At Why Killing Angelina May Not Work

With Manifest having ten episodes left, the show may not make the answer to the Lifeboat mystery as simple as killing one character, though it still makes sense that this option will at least be explored. One reason why it might not work relates back to events that took place in Manifest season 3. The Callings had Jace convinced that he was supposed to kill Michaela in order to survive his Death Date. Kory and Pete received the same Callings, but decided not to follow them. As it turned out, these Callings were a test of sorts. Jace failed it by trying to kill Michaela, thus dooming all three of the meth addicts to die together.

Similar to what happened with Jace, Kory, and Pete, killing Angelina may feel like the logical course of action, but that's no guarantee it will succeed. The Callings tested Kory, Jace, and Pete to see if they would stoop to murder or do the right thing, and going the immoral route proved deadly. It's possible that the Callings are setting up a nearly identical challenge for the passengers in Manifest season 4, part 2. If so, it may be that the divine consciousness wants them to figure out a way to stop Angelina without killing her. That may be the only real method of avoiding the end of the world from coming to pass.

The Passengers May Have Already Missed Their Chance To Stop Angelina

Alternatively, there's a chance that killing Angelina would've worked, but it's too late for that now. At the end of the finale, the show allowed for a better look at what was happening beyond the church where the fight happened. Lava could be seen all over the city, which may indicate that Angelina has already caused widespread damage. While no confirmation either way has been provided, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Angelina secretly set the apocalypse in motion in the finale. Theoretically, Angelina's Omega Sapphire powers could have set off a geological chain reaction that hasn't played out yet.

Confirming this may take time, but if the characters do make this discovery, it would mean that killing Angelina won't help them save the world in 2024. Going in this direction would force the passengers to get more creative in their planning as more complex measures would have to be taken going forward. Whatever they would be, they'd most assuredly hinge on Cal's status as the Dragon and the mysterious powers he developed in the finale.
