Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4 part 1
The two biggest discoveries in Manifest season 4 part 1 were actually set up in season 3. The characters learned quite a lot about the Callings in the first ten episodes of the show’s final season, but none of its reveals stands out more than what they found out about the volcano and the reason for Flight 828’s disappearance.
After Manifest season 4 part 1, the Flight 828 passengers now understand that the plane was trapped within a divine consciousness and that this being gave them the Callings for the purpose of stopping a volcanic apocalypse. Neither of these bombshells came out of nowhere, as the show cleverly laid the groundwork for both of them in the previous season. Saanvi and Troy’s research into the Noah’s Ark driftwood and the traces of sapphire at Eureka indicated that divine intervention was at the heart of Manifest’s central mystery. And the volcano Callings experienced in Manifest season 3 served as early teases of their ultimate goal in the series.
Why Sapphire Is So Important In Manifest
Long before Cal realized that the plane was inside a divine consciousness, Saanvi found traces of sapphire on every object that had been subjected to the phenomenon tied to Flight 828’s disappearance. What was so meaningful about this is that sapphire is often described as the “signature” of the divine. The idea behind the theory at the time was that everything that disappeared was touched by God. The sapphire connection made sense, so when season 4 began, the framework for Manifest’s divine consciousness reveal was already in place.
Manifest’s Volcanic Apocalypse Explained
When characters like Ben and Cal were getting Callings about a volcano, they eventually came to realize that the volcano in question was Mount Aratat. It seemed this was the Callings’ way of letting them know what they needed to do with the tailfin in the Manifest season 3 finale. The link to Mount Aratat was explained by the reveal that the volcano is what spit out the tailfin in the first place. But now, it’s become apparent that Manifest’s volcano Callings weren’t just about season 3’s story; they were secretly setting up the show’s endgame.
As Cal said at the beginning of the series, “it’s all connected”. Manifest season 4’s two most important reveals both relate back to yet another building block from season 3. In a way, Flight 828’s Noah Ark hint helped set the stage for the volcanic apocalypse and the role of the divine consciousness at the same time. In the Bible, God planned for Noah’s Ark to survive the flood, and now it looks like Manifest is gearing up for its passengers to go through a similar challenge.
