Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2In The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 "The Mines of Mandalore," Bo-Katan Kryze told Grogu that Mandalorians and Jedi once worked well together, and ten canon Star Wars stories prove that she was right. Although Mandalorians and Jedi were traditionally enemies, going to war with each other on multiple occasions, the two groups eventually teamed up against a common enemy during the Clone Wars. The Mandalorians and the Jedi would continue to work together throughout later Star Wars eras, even against other Mandalorians, demonstrating that the two wildly different cultures could work together to defeat powerful opponents.

Bo-Katan herself was often at the center of Mandalorians working alongside Jedi in each era, making her qualified to claim that they work well together. It's interesting that Bo-Katan felt the need to share this information with Grogu, perhaps assuming that Luke Skywalker would only have shared the history of Mandalorians and Jedi being enemies. After all, Luke didn't have the first-hand experience that Bo-Katan did, and he spent the original trilogy fighting a bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor. Even so, Bo-Katan is right about Mandalorians and Jedi, and the ten times they worked together in Star Wars prove it.

Star Wars Obi-Wan and a Mandalorian

The first instance of Mandalorians and Jedi working together in canon was in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 5, when Bo-Katan helped Obi-Wan Kenobi escape from Darth Maul. Even though the Jedi were allied with Duchess Satine Kryze and the New Mandalorians, their encounters with traditional Mandalorian warriors often led to a fight. However, Darth Maul taking control of Death Watch started a new conflict between the Mandalorians, so Bo-Katan freed Obi-Wan and sent him to tell the Republic what had happened. This was the true beginning of Bo-Katan's journey towards becoming Mandalore's new leader, where she would team up with Jedi many times.

Fenn Rau in Star Wars Kanan #10

The Jedi were aided later in the Clone Wars by another Mandalorian sect, as seen in the comic series Star Wars: Kanan by Greg Weisman and Pepe Larraz. Kanan Jarrus recalled fighting as a Padawan in the Third Battle of Mygeeto, where he and his master, Depa Billaba, were saved by Fenn Rau and the Mandalorian Protectors. This was an important moment that demonstrated how not all Mandalorians were like the Death Watch, as Rau made clear by stating "...that not all Mandalorians have forgotten their honor and obligations." Rau's actions set up the different ideals of certain clans and foreshadowed the Mandalorians working with Jedi again in the future.

Bo-Katan teamed up with Ahsoka Tano to defeat Maul and free Mandalore from his regime, and Anakin Skywalker had the 501st stay to aid his former Padawan before rushing off to save Chancellor Palpatine from General Grievous. After successfully capturing Maul, Bo-Katan and Ahsoka parted on good terms, and the two would remain strong allies into the New Republic era. However, the Siege of Mandalore allowed the Republic to take control of the planet, which would soon begin to suffer under the newly formed Galactic Empire.

Upon returning to Concord Dawn, Rau discovered that his fellow Mandalorians had been killed by the Empire, and working with Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger, they managed to escape Gar Saxon and his Imperial Supercommandos. Sabine's actions earned the respect of Rau, who finally agreed to join the Rebels in their fight against the Empire.

Sabine Wren vs. Kanan Jarrus - Star Wars Rebels season 3

Fenn Rau worked alongside the Jedi again in Star Wars Rebels season 3 while Sabine Wren trained to use the Darksaber. He explained the history of the blade and how it could unite the Mandalorians, and also offered Sabine equipment and moral support while Kanan taught her how to use a lightsaber. This caused complications in Sabine's training, as Kanan pointed out that the Jedi won the war with Mandalore, and neither Mandalorian appreciated his history lesson. In the end, the characters worked through their differences and agreed to stand behind Sabine, leading into her arc throughout future episodes.

However, upon seeing a lightsaber, the Mandalorians recognized the Jedi and opened fire, before stopping when they saw Sabine. Ursa Wren, clan leader and Sabine's mother, attempted to turn in the Jedi to Gar Saxon to protect her daughter and Clan Wren, but Saxon betrayed them and tried to massacre everyone. Working together, the Mandalorians and the Jedi fought back, and Sabine defeated Saxon in combat, staying behind to help rescue her father and find Mandalore's true leader.

Ezra and the Mandalorians vs. the Empire - Star Wars Rebels season 3

The Mandalorians and the Jedi worked together again in the Star Wars Rebels season 3 finale, where Grand Admiral Thrawn discovered the location of the Rebel base. Clan Wren was initially hesitant to join the fight, as they were preoccupied with a civil war, but with Sabine's help, Ezra convinced the Mandalorians to aid in the Rebels' escape. Ezra, Sabine, and Clan Wren fought side by side in space, taking out the Interdictor-class Star Destroyer that prevented the others from leaving the planet. The Rebels then relocated to Yavin 4, joining forces with the larger Rebel Alliance to take the fight to the Empire.

Ezra, Sabine and the Mandalorians prepare to attack - Star Wars Rebels season 4

The Rebels and the Jedi returned the favor in the Star Wars Rebels season 4 premiere, joining forces with the Mandalorians to free their homeworld from the Empire. Bo-Katan returned as well, helping Sabine destroy a powerful weapon and preventing her from going down the same dark path that she once had. While Bo-Katan was hesitant to claim the Darksaber, Sabine and the other Mandalorian clans agreed that she was meant to rule Mandalore, uniting behind her to continue the fight against the Empire. Sadly, this would eventually end in tragedy, with the Empire destroying Mandalore in the Night of a Thousand Tears, scattering the remaining Mandalorians across the galaxy.

2 The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5 "Chapter 13: The Jedi"

Ahsoka Tano and Din Djarin in The Mandalorian

The next Mandalorian-Jedi team-up came during the New Republic era after Bo-Katan sent Din Djarin to find Ahsoka Tano. Even though she had previously left the Jedi Order, Ahsoka was still a Jedi in every way that mattered, which made it surprising to Din Djarin when she refused to train Grogu. However, she did agree to guide him to another Jedi if he helped her free a local town, and after succeeding, she sent him to the ancient Jedi planet Tython. Din Djarin also cited himself and Ahsoka working together as the reason their plan would work: "A Mandalorian and a Jedi? They'll never see it coming."

An image of Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber in Star Wars

Ahsoka's information allowed Grogu to reach out to Luke Skywalker through the Force, who made his appearance in The Mandalorian season 2 finale. The Mandalorians didn't have a chance to fight beside Luke, but he did save them from certain death by defeating a legion of Dark Troopers. Din Djarin completed his quest by returning Grogu to the Jedi, at least until Grogu later chose to return to his father figure. The ten times Mandalorians and Jedi worked together in Star Wars prove Bo-Katan was right, and the two groups are certain to team up again, either in The Mandalorian Season 3 or another future Star Wars TV show.
