Warning: Minor SPOILERS for The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian has just wrapped up its first season on Disney+ with an excellent finale, and a promise that both the Mando and Baby Yoda (aka The Child) will return in season two. Until that time comes, some incredible Mandalorian themed art is tiding fans over... and we've found some of the coolest yet, translating the series into comic books.

Star Wars has a long history with Marvel Comics (even before Disney bought Star Wars and Lucasfilm), as Star Wars and Marvel published comics together from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. The rights hopped around for a few decades before Disney purchased the property en masse, and since 2015, Marvel (along with IDW) has published some of the best Star Wars comics to date. However, there's something special about the look of the original comics by Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, Jo Duffy, Howard Chaykin, Carmine Infantino and a handful of other creators. What if they existed today for The Mandalorian? Thanks to an incredible artist, we have an answer.

For the last six weeks, artist dvglzv has been posting retro covers for each episode of The Mandalorian. So far, they've managed to create covers for episodes 1-7 of the series, featuring iconic moments from each episode -- including Mando's run-ins as a bounty hunter, Baby Yoda, going back to Navarro, and the AT-ST Attack on Sorgan. The covers also feature episode titles on the bottom and spot-on details like quotes such as "this is the way," "Mando at gunpoint," and "Meet Cara Dune!" with an image of the mercenary in the corner of chapter 4. Take a look:

The covers are so good. They manage to capture the spirit of The Mandalorian series perfectly, while pulling in the visual aesthetic of the old Marvel Star Wars comics. Going the extra mile and editing creases and imperfections make it even more satisfying, to the point that, should The Mandalorian ever officially head into comic form, dvglzv should get strong consideration. This level of work also includes some great retro covers for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Brightburn, and Gotham among other pieces. We recommend checking out their Instagram account and giving them a follow if you like what you see.

With the first season in the books, Jon Favreau is already started teasing new characters for The Mandalorian season two in what's sure to be another wild ride with Mando and Baby Yoda. The finale teased what's to come, and it's incredibly exciting. In the meantime, we can't wait to see what dvglzv does for the eighth and final episode of The Mandalorian.
