The Mandalorian's Star Wars movie future in seems inevitable to star Pedro Pascal. The successful Star Wars TV show first premiered in 2019 and has since gone on to change the game for the franchise, as well as for streaming in general. In an era when television streaming has become a dominant force, The Mandalorian continues to thrive, gifting the series with two seasons so far and a season 3 on the way in February.

One of the main reasons for the series' success has been its compelling lead character, Din Djarin. Mando's story, especially with his beloved Grogu at his side, has become a favorite of Star Wars audiences and has even landed itself an important place in the Star Wars galaxy. Lucasfilm has gone on to announce projects that fit within the show's universe, in a similar way to how the Skywalker Saga anchored the nine Star Wars films together. The Book of Boba Fett was the first spinoff series to be set within the greater Mandalorian universe, with Din even returning for the latter episodes in a role so large it placed Pascal's name under the starring list, as opposed to co-starring.

Now, Pascal shares his thoughts on The Mandalorian's Star Wars movie future. In an interview with Variety at Star Wars Celebration, the actor was asked about the cinematic future of The Mandalorian, to which Pascal responds with a hopeful, "Don't you think it's inevitable?" With the actor being an avid fan of cinema himself, he shares his own enthusiasm for taking Din's story to the big screen. He adds an anecdote about the intimacy he enjoys with having a streaming series of chapters as compared to large films, but goes on to plea for a chance to bring Mando to the cinematic universe. See Pascal's full quote below:

Don't you think it's inevitable? I, personally, I have no — truly — I have no idea, but that would be a dream come true. Not that any more dreams could possibly come true! [Laughs] Maybe I've had my fill. [...] Seeing just the trailer on a big screen like that, I mean the way it envelopes you and takes you back, and at the same time, it is beyond special to be able to kind of have the intimate experience that we do have with these chapters of The Mandalorian and its expanded universe and everything that is to come and everything that's just started as far as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and we're figuring it out. [...] I love going to the movies. Going back and just being able to be with an audience again is one of the most important things to me. If that happens with The Mandalorian, all I can say is... please!

Din Djarin Wielding The Darksaber In TBOBF Chapter 5

As his most recent role in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage demonstrated, Pascal has the ability to anchor a movie, which would make a cinematic performance of Mando an exciting opportunity for audiences. With Lucasfilm's Star Wars strategy focusing more on television than films, it's hard to say when a Mandalorian movie would hit screens, or even what it would be about, but it's evidently not an impossibility. Stories like Din's in The Mandalorian could be exactly what Star Wars needs to kickstart their movies following the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, and with viewers calling for series directors like Bryce Dallas Howard to get their own Star Wars film, this could be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Pascal's enthusiasm for a Mandalorian movie is encouraging to those who want to see even more of Din and Grogu. Audiences have only scratched the surface of Mando's character, and The Mandalorian season 3 story should reveal even more of him as Din grapples with regaining his Mandalorian identity. With the planet of Mandalore about to be shown in live-action for the first time, there will likely be many rich stories to tell that could easily be taken to the big screen. For now, viewers can continue to look forward to the exciting adventure that's to come with The Mandalorian season 3 in February 2023.
