The Mandalorian season 3 needs to visit the homeworld of Mandalore. The Disney+ Star Wars show is at the apex of the galaxy far, far away right now after two successful seasons. The Mandalorian has been such a hit for Lucasfilm and Disney that season 3 is already in the works in addition to three spinoffs, including The Book of Boba Fett. The series unifies all three Star Wars trilogies and has expanded the canon in fascinating ways.

With a show title like The Mandalorian, the people, history, and culture of Mandalorians are at the forefront of the series. Din Djarin isn't a Mandalorian by birth, but he was adopted into the culture as a foundling and dedicated his life to them ever since. While The Mandalorian season 2 saw him begin to question some parts of his upbringing and finally remove his helmet, he's still loyal to the way of Mandalorians. He's also in a brand new position of power heading into The Mandalorian season 3, which is why a trip to Mandalore is in order.

The Mandalorian made a few references that Mandalore is in worse shape now than in the past, and season 3 would be the perfect chance to finally visit the planet. The history of Mandalore can play a vital role in both Din's story and the future of the show, especially now that Din is the owner of the Darksaber, making him Mandalore's technical leader. He doesn't want this responsibility now, but that might not matter. Din may even need to go to Mandalore now to at least be introduced as their new ruler.

Going to Mandalore could also lead to the already-anticipated fight between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze. Din doesn't want the Darksaber or to be Mandalore's leader at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, but Bo-Katan also refuses to accept the weapon improperly. That moment made the likelihood of Din and Bo-Katan fighting for the Darksaber 3 skyrocket. While this battle could be done at any place and at any time, it would be fitting for Mandalore's new ruler to be decided on the planet itself.

A trip to Mandalore and a dual to name the new ruler could also trigger flashbacks to the planet's downfall. The Mandalorian introduced the history of the Great Purge, which saw the Empire launch an assault on Mandalore, where Moff Gideon defeated Bo-Katan and claimed the Darksaber as his property. If The Mandalorian season 3 deals with the Darksaber changing hands again, this could be the time to show how Bo-Katan lost it before. This could give the show a chance to include Mandalore multiple times and in very different states. It seems like a formality that The Mandalorian will visit Mandalore at some point. Now it seems like season 3 could be well-positioned to be when it happens.
