The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal has teased that more huge surprises are on their way in season 3. Pascal stars as Din Djarin in the Star Wars spinoff series, which premiered in 2019. The series follows the bounty hunter and he reluctantly develops a fatherly affection for one of his bounties, the young alien Grogu (popularly known as Baby Yoda). Although The Mandalorian's most recent episode aired two years ago on December 18, 2020, both Djarin and Grogu made appearances on the final three episodes of The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year.

Per ComicBook, Pascal spoke at Disney's Star Wars panel at the Brazilian convention Comic Con Experience, where the release date of The Mandalorian season 3 was also revealed. He bragged slightly about the fact that the show was able to keep some major secrets from the audience, including the existence of Grogu in season 1 and the surprise reappearance of Luke Skywalker in season 2. He revealed that for The Mandalorian season 3 "there are more secrets to keep," which are going to be "epic." Read his full quote below:

There's so much that you're going to see. I think some of the best things about Season 1 and Season 2 of The Mandalorian were the surprises. We were all able to keep baby Grogu a secret, we were all able to keep Luke Skywalker's return to the world a secret. So there are more secrets to keep."

[If I had to describe season 3 in one word, it would be] epic.

In the two years since The Mandalorian season 2 aired its finale, details of the upcoming storyline have been slight. It seems likely that Djarin will be drawn into Bo-Katan's (Katee Sackhoff) fight to reclaim Mandalore, as he promised to do if she and her Nite Owls helped him save Grogu at the end of season 2. The developments in The Book of Boba Fett also showed that Grogu has already spurned his Jedi training in order to reunite with Djarin, who also now wields the Darksaber that he claimed from Moff Gideon.

At the very same Comic Con Experience panel this week, where it was revealed that The Mandalorian season 3 was set to premiere on March 1, Disney shared some new footage that offers even more insight into the season. The pair will indeed travel to Mandalore, where Djarin still must face the fallout of removing his helmet, which goes against the tenets of the Mandalorian culture. The footage also revealed that the characters will visit the city planet of Coruscant and face off against some Kowakian monkey-lizards.

What Surprises Could The Mandalorian Season 3 Have in Store?

The epic surprises that Pascal teases in The Mandalorian season 3 could come from any direction. If they truly are on the scale that he teases, it seems unlikely that they would include a cameo from one of the other iconic Star Wars figures who have already returned, including Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. It will nevertheless likely involve a huge location or character from the original trilogy, which could potentially include Han Solo, C-3PO, or even a more minor but memorable character like Warwick Davis' Wicket the Ewok.
