The star of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal, has teased the appearance of many new faces in the show's upcoming third season. The Mandalorian first debuted on Disney+'s U.S. launch day in 2019 and has since accrued critical acclaim for its adventures that follow Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and a child of Yoda's species, Grogu, as they make their way through the galaxy together. Season 2 premiered in October 2020 and wrapped in December of that same year. Filming for the third season was slated to begin in April of 2021 but was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to October 2021.

Din most recently appeared in The Book of Boba Fett, which some have considered to be Mandalorian season 2.5. This appearance gave the audience a clearer idea of where Din may be headed in The Mandalorian Season 3. After reuniting with Grogu, who he entrusted to Luke Skywalker in the season 2 finale, the "Baby Yoda" will be sticking by Din's side for whatever may come. Additionally, the Armorer (Emily Swallow) banished him from the Children of the Watch for removing his helmet, which has left Din eager to seek atonement. As told by the Armorer, atonement can only be found in "the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore." If Din's acquisition of the Darksaber in season two hadn't been incentive enough to lead season 3 to Mandalore, his motivation to earn atonement surely is.

Now, the show's star, Pedro Pascal, teased new information about Din's journey in The Mandalorian season 3. The actor, who plays the show's titular character, was recently interviewed by the German magazine Neelix. He was asked about filming the show's third season and anything else he could reveal. In the true spirit of a modern-day Star Wars actor, Pascal kept things brief, but he could still provide some insight into what the fans can expect to see—or rather, who. Pascal teased the inclusion of many new characters in Din's season 3 journey. You can see everything he had to say in the quote below:

Q: In October last year, the shooting of the new season of The Mandalorian began. What can you tell us about it?

A: Definitely nothing (laughs). Okay, there will be some familiar faces and there will be a lot of new faces. In addition, there is again a lot of action and a really great story. Satisfied?

Book of Boba Fett Episode 6 Why Mandalorian Didnt See Grogu SR

Pascal has made it clear that fans can expect to see more new characters in The Mandalorian than familiar ones. This further supports the idea that Din will be headed to Mandalore, possibly alongside Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), as she aims to retake the planet for all Mandalorians. It also sets up some potential cameos of Mandalorians who haven't yet made it to live-action, such as Sabine Wren from Star Wars: Rebels. Sabine Wren was recently cast for the upcoming Ahsoka show with Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the role. After hearing more about the Darksaber's history from the Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett, an appearance from Sabine would follow along well with Din's journey.

As far as familiar faces go, Carl Weathers has already confirmed that his character Greef Karga will be making a return, and The Book of Boba Fett has confirmed that Grogu will be staying alongside his Mandalorian father figure. Fans can also expect to see Bo-Katan in the third season, who may even be an antagonist as Bo-Katan seeks to wield the Darksaber once again, which can only be done by dueling Din Djarin. There may not be many other familiar faces from Din's past with his eyes set towards Mandalore. For the first time in The Mandalorian so far, Din is no longer looking for more of Grogu's kind and is set on a new path that concerns his own story. This opens the door for many new faces to appear in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, just as Pascal has teased.
