Bill Burr opens up about his hopes to return as enemy-turned-ally Migs Mayfeld in The Mandalorian season 3 and his love for the Disney+ series. Burr made his debut in the Star Wars spin-off in season 1 as a former Imperial sharpshooter-turned-mercenary who leads a crew to rescue a prisoner from a New Republic prison transport ship, though finds himself imprisoned after he and his crew try and fail to double-cross Pedro Pascal's titular character. Mayfeld would return in season 2 as Mando recruited him to help track down Moff Gideon's ship after Grogu is captured by the Galactic Empire leader, resulting in the destruction of a secret Imperial mining hub and being allowed to leave by New Republic marshal Cara Dune.

Alongside Pascal and Burr, the cast for The Mandalorian includes a range of new and returning characters for the Star Wars universe, some of whom include Carl Weather as Greef Karga, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. The Mandalorian has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike since its debut in late 2019, which has led to multiple spin-offs put into development, including the Morrison-led The Book of Boba Fett arriving next month and Dawson-starring limited series Ahsoka. As production nears its stars on the mothership series, one actor is holding out hope to come back to a galaxy far, far away.

While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant to discuss his upcoming Roku series Immoral Compass, Burr discussed the possibility of returning for The Mandalorian season 3. Though he noted he couldn't offer a confirmation or denial about coming back, he expressed his hopes to do so and his love for the series. See what Burr said below:

"Oh, I hope so. Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, who wrote both of my episodes that I did — to be a small part of something that big that is that good that means so much to so many people. I'm obviously not allowed to say anything other than I just absolutely love being on that show and I hope it continues and if it doesn't, I've had a blast."

Burr's history with the Star Wars universe has been an interesting one, with his having been cast in The Mandalorian coming from Favreau thinking it funny to cast someone who openly mocked the iconic franchise and its fans on stage. Though initially seeing some negative reviews for his handling of Grogu, better known as Baby Yoda, in his first outing, Burr's performance would see a generally positive reception in his debut and even larger critical acclaim with his season 2 appearance for the deepening of his character's backstory and the better development of Mayfeld. The Grammy-nominated comedian's latest comments about the series show a great appreciation for his role in the series, even if it offers no answers on whether audiences can expect to see him back anytime soon.

With production on The Mandalorian season 3 having reportedly started in October, it would be expected that a star would know whether or not they are coming back for a series. That being said, Disney and Lucasfilm have become notoriously careful about secrets getting out for their projects, making Burr's note that he isn't allowed to say anything as good of a hint he could return for the next chapter as much as shutting down the possibility. While The Mandalorian season 3 won't be hitting Disney+ until sometime next year, audiences can look forward to return to the Star Wars world when The Book of Boba Fett premieres on December 29.
