Disney+ rolled out a new teaser for The Mandalorian season 2 on Friday, confirming the surprising return of a season 1 guest star. Premiering on Disney+ in November 2019, The Mandalorian is the first ever live-action series in the Star Wars universe. The series, which is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, follows the titular bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy. The Mandalorian has been overwhelmingly hailed by critics for its action-packed, intelligently-crafted narrative. The show's season 1 - which concluded with Djarin taking off with Baby Yoda (known as The Child in the series) in search of his home - was nominated in 14 categories at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Now, The Mandalorian season 2 is due to premiere later this month.

One of the reasons behind The Mandalorian's unprecedented success is the fine performance delivered by the show's extensive roster of guest stars. In season 1, the acclaimed space-western TV series featured cameos from Bill Burr, Richard Ayoade, Brian Posehn, Jason Sudeikis, Amy Sedaris, Adam Pally, and Horatio Sanz. Likewise, season 2 is expected to boast a star-studded roll of cameos, with Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Biehn, and Rosario Dawson all reportedly have roles. But the appearance of these new performers doesn't rule out the return of previous guest-stars, and this is something the latest The Mandalorian season 2 teaser has confirmed.

In a new teaser, a familiar blue character from The Mandalorian season 1 can be seen. The character is indeed Horatio Sanz's Mythrol, the amphibious alien from the show's first episode. The teaser allows viewers to glimpse at Mythrol as he stands between Carl Weathers' Greef Karga and Gina Carano's Cara Dune in a mysterious ship before the scene cuts out. The video doesn't reveal any further information about the alien, although it does affirm the arrival of a new The Mandalorian season 2 trailer on Monday. Check out the teaser below.

This, however, isn't the first time that The Mandalorian has teased Mythrol's return in season 2. Previously, Disney unveiled a series of cardboard standees as a part of its Mandalorian merchandise, which also included the unfortunate blue alien. The Mandalorian season 1 did not feature much of Mythrol. The sentient humanoid appeared only in episode 1, where he is apprehended by Djarin after being rescued from a group of trawlers. Djarin freezes Mythrol in carbonite and trades him off to Karga. The character is not mentioned again in the series.

Given that Mythrol only appeared in that one episode, it's a little surprising to see him return in The Mandalorian season 2. Though, as the SNL alum is an ardent fan of the Star Wars franchise, perhaps Sanz's passion convinced the show's creators to bring him back. Having been last seen in Karga's possession and then popping up in this trailer alongside Karga and Dune, it'll be interesting to see what brings Mythrol into the story again. And since Mythrol is returning to The Mandalorian, it wouldn't be outlandish for other minor characters to reappear. Mythrol's significance in the upcoming season will play out on October 30, when The Mandalorian season 2 premieres on Disney+.
