Some fans are speculating that Boba Fett is in The Mandalorian season 2 trailer. The first trailer for the upcoming season of the popular Disney+ series has just been released. It provided several interesting teases about what’s next for Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda, their conflict with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), and the inclusion of the Jedi.

The Mandalorian season 2 is giving viewers plenty to look forward to, not the least of which being appearances from two well-known Star Wars characters: Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars and Boba Fett from the original trilogy. It was reported months ago that the infamous bounty hunter will appear in some capacity in season 2. The actor will be played by Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones actor Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in the movie. Since Boba is a clone of Jango, it makes sense for him to be portrayed by Morrison. There’s no word yet on what his role is or what his relationship with Mando will be when he appears in season 2.

Fans are highly anticipating his role, though, with many wondering if he’ll be hinted at or shown prior to his guest appearance. In fact, it’s been suggested that The Mandalorian season 2 trailer already showed him in the scene where a Mandalorian is seen riding a speedbike at the 1:10 mark. Comparisons between the helmet and jetpack in the trailer have been made to those worn by Boba Fett. The brief shot only provides a look at the character from the back, so there isn’t much to go on.

Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Boba Fett Helmet

It is at least a possibility that the character in question is Boba Fett - but it’s a slim one. Like Boba Fett, Mando has a jetpack of his own that he acquired in the season 1 finale, so it could have been him instead. Plus, the shiny helmet looks a bit more like Mando’s than it does Boba’s. Of course, years have passed since Boba Fett’s last live-action appearance in the Star Wars universe, so he could have gotten an upgrade similar to what Mando received from the Armorer early in season 1. However, that feels unlikely, considering just how iconic his armor is. When The Mandalorian does officially unveil him, there’s a high probability that he’ll look the same as he did in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

It’s also possible that the real first tease of Boba Fett already happened. He may have been the mysterious character stalking Mando on Tatooine in season 1. Whoever this person was, his spurs made the same sound as Boba Fett’s. This could have been a misdirection, but that remains to be seen. Either way, how he’ll fit into the story is one of The Mandalorian season 2’s biggest questions. As someone who wears the Mandalorian armor but doesn’t actually follow their code, it’s worth wondering what will happen when he runs into the show’s titular hero.
