A new Rotten Tomatoes survey declares Disney+ hit The Mandalorian as fall's most anticipated returning show. The first live-action Star Wars series premiered last November along with the rest of Disney's burgeoning streaming service and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. In addition to Pedro Pascal's compelling bounty hunter Din Djarin and its exploration of the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian won over audiences thanks to the surprise tacked at the end of its first episode: Baby Yoda, the mysterious and very powerful child Din is tasked with protecting. The Mandalorian also proved to be a hit with critics, recently scoring five Emmys with more possibly on the way.

Ever since season 1 came to an end, audiences have eagerly anticipated the latest adventures of Din and Baby Yoda. The first trailer for The Mandalorian season 2 dropped earlier this week and teased a brewing conflict - or perhaps alliance - with the Jedi. Din ended the first season by setting off to find a new home for Baby Yoda, and season 2 looks to cover that journey. They'll be hunted by the enigmatic Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), who wants Baby Yoda for his own still-to-be-revealed reasons. Plus, there are a slew of guest stars expected to appear who could prove to be either friends or enemies.

In short, The Mandalorian season 2 has a lot in store, which is likely why audiences are looking forward to it more than any other show. Rotten Tomatoes conducted a survey of 1,000 participants to determine what movies and television shows viewers are most eager to see. The Mandalorian topped the list of returning fall shows, making it the most anticipated program of the season. It was followed by Fargo, This is Us, The Crown, and His Dark Materials.

The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda in Season 2

Considering the popularity of The Mandalorian's first season, this isn't too surprising. As a Star Wars show, it was always going to be a popular program, but The Mandalorian managed to do the impossible: Unite virtually all Star Wars fans. Indeed, Disney's Star Wars era has proven to be rather controversial, but The Mandalorian has received near-universal praise from audiences. It's no wonder they're very excited for season 2 and have ranked it above all other returning shows.

Hopefully, The Mandalorian season 2 won't disappoint. There's some concern that the sheer number of guest stars - which include Rosario Dawson, Timothy Olyphant, and WWE star Sasha Banks - will detract from the show's primary story of Din and Baby Yoda. Of course, these worries may prove to be pointless when the season actually begins; it's hard to say how it will turn out until episodes are actually available. For now, though, The Mandalorian remains as beloved and popular as ever.
