WARNING: Spoilers for The Mandalorian season 2, episode 8 "The Rescue"

Mark Hamill trolls Star Wars fans about the secret reveal in the finale of The Mandalorian season 2. The hit Disney+ show released season 2, episode 8 "The Rescue" on Friday, which sees Mando (Pedro Pascal) joining forces with Boba Fett (Temeura Morrison), Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) to rescue The Child, aka Baby Yoda, from the clutches of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). The thrilling finale not only wraps up season 2 but features a surprise cameo.

At the episode's climax Luke Skywalker (a de-aged Hamill) returns to save everyone when their demise seems imminent. Cutting through several Darktroopers, Skywalker then rescues the group and takes The Child into his care, promising to teach it the ways of the Jedi. The iconic character's appearance was rumored but kept secret until the episode was released, and audiences have justifiably gone crazy at the news. The episode's surprises didn't end there, though, with a post-credits scene featuring Fennec Shand and Boba Fett being used to announced a spinoff series. The Book of Boba Fett will debut on Disney+ in December 2021. But the big news was Hamill's appearance, something the actor hadn't acknowledged until Friday afternoon.

In typical Hamill style, though, his acknowledgment was cryptic, tweeting one simple line designed to troll Star Wars fans: "Seen anything good on TV lately?" The tweet proves Hamill is not only a Jedi master but a master troll, not revealing anything about his involvement in the episode but making it clear he's as excited about it as everyone else. You can see the hilarious tweet below:

The tweet is also an excellent way for Hamill to acknowledge his appearance in the episode without spoiling anything for those who haven't had a chance to watch it yet, given most will wait until Friday evening to catch up. Hamill's tweet is also an acknowledgment that he was involved in Skywalker's appearance, even though there was a body double under Hamill's digitally de-aged face, similar to the way it was for The Rise of Skywalker flashback sequences.

The finale cameo will now naturally lead to speculation over whether Skywalker will return in The Mandalorian season 3. The final scene made it seem as though Mando was saying goodbye to The Child for good, but there is potential for the upcoming season to follow Grogu's (his real name) training under Luke. If so, that would mean Hamill could be returning a lot more in the coming year.
