New images from The Mandalorian season 2 have appeared on Disney+’s title menu. With the help of Star Wars creative, Dave Filoni (among others), Jon Favreau’s Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian, became one of the biggest shows of 2019. The story of Din Djarn AKA Mando (Pedro Pascal) and the bounty he couldn't bring himself to collect, “The Child” AKA Baby Yoda, has captivated fans and critics alike. Not only did The Mandalorian set a precedent as the first live-action Star Wars television show, but it helped to establish Disney+’s streaming service in a big way.

Following The Mandalorian’s season 1 finale in December, fans have eagerly anticipated its second season airing this Fall. Earlier this month, it was reported that The Mandalorian season 2 will premiere on October 30. As we close in on that date, Disney and Lucasfilm have ramped up promotion for the series. Fans’ first look at the upcoming season has teased how the show will expand its cast of characters and connect to the larger Star Wars universe.

As noticed by trevorthesith on Twitter, a slew of new images from The Mandalorian season 2 have been revealed on Disney+’s Star Wars title screen (they've since been removed). The images include the protagonist’s ship flying between a pair of X-wings, Mando riding on a boat/ship, some stormtroopers, Baby Yoda, Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). Check them out below.

Like the first wave of Mandalorian season 2 images that came out recently, this batch of photos isn't too revealing, but still provides some fascinating looks at what's to come. This wouldn't be the first time the show featured X-wings, as the ships made a brief appearance in the season 1 episode, "The Prisoner." It's interesting to see the Razor Crest flying alongside the fighters, suggesting Din teams up with them at some point. Since Moff Gideon is the series' main antagonist and leading an Imperial remnant in a search for Baby Yoda, it wouldn't be surprising to see the New Republic partake in the action. Another notable image is the one of Din and Baby Yoda on a ship sailing in the water, which is an atypical location for live-action Star Wars.

These new images will continue to leave fans wondering what happened after that deadly confrontation with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). While Din and Baby Yoda were able to make it out alive, it’s safe to assume Gideon (and his dark saber) will be hot on their trail in season 2—which will pick up right where season 1 left off. Mando’s ultimate goal is to reunite Baby Yoda with his species, something he knows very little about. That said, he could be headed anywhere and meeting anyone in season 2. Being that The Mandalorian takes place after Return of the Jedi, the appearance of an X-wing could imply that Mando will be meeting members of the (previously) Rebel Alliance. Regardless, as Din, Baby Yoda, and The Mandalorian’s stories become less contained, the show will serve as a litmus test for Disney+’s plethora of live-action shows in the Star Wars universe.
