IG-11 may be gone, but he's not forgotten, as The Mandalorian season 2, episode 4, "The Siege" reveals a touching Easter egg that pays tribute to the nurse droid's death. Voiced by Taika Waititi, IG-11 was introduced in The Mandalorian's first episode as another bounty hunter searching for the Child. Despite a his distrust of droids, Din Djarin reluctantly allied himself with IG-11 in order to get past the defenses surrounding their target. But when they discovered that their target was just an infant, and IG-11 made a move to kill poor Baby Yoda, Din shot the droid instead.
Din later got an unpleasant surprise when he ran into IG-11 again, repurposed by Kuiil to help and protect people rather than kill. The new and improved IG-11 rescued Baby Yoda from a pair of cruel stormtroopers, and later sacrificed himself by activating his self-destruct to kill another group of troopers, saving not only the child but also Din, Greef Karga and Cara Dune. With the Imperial remnants (mostly) gone, Greef and Cara set about making Nevarro a nicer place to live, as Din discovers in "The Siege."
With the Razor Crest still suffering from a botched repair job by the Mon Calamari, Din returns to Nevarro to call in a favor with Greef. The volcanic planet's trading post is now lively, bustling, and considerably less lawless thanks to Cara Dune acting as the local marshal. Meanwhile, the bar where Din used to meet with Greef to pick up jobs is now a school, where Baby Yoda gets dropped off for the day. As Din follows his two friends into the school, a statue of IG-11 in a heroic pose can be seen in the market square behind him.
IG-11 is unique in being the only person who has seen Din Djarin without his helmet since he first put it on as a child. When the Mandalorian received a head injury in the season 1 finale, IG-11 persuaded him that it would not be a violation of the Mandalorian code for a droid to see him without his helmet, since droids are not living things. Din made an allowance for this loophole, and IG-11 used bacta spray to heal his injury and save his life. "The Siege" offers another glimpse of Din's face (actually just his chin) when he lifts his helmet slightly to drink some soup. Baby Yoda, who has never seen his guardian's face, is very intrigued by this.
Since IG-11 was blown to pieces at the end of The Mandalorian season 1, there's little to no chance of him being fixed again. Still, he's had a lasting impact that goes beyond a statue. Din, who had hated ever droids ever since they killed his parents, has softened towards the metal-skinned inhabitants of the Star Wars universe, even letting some of Peli Motto's droids tune up the Razor Crest in his last visit to Tatooine.
