Newly revealed concept art from The Mandalorian season 2 shows off an early design for Ahsoka Tano. The first live-action Star Wars show to premiere on Disney+ remains the streamer's most popular original program, and fans are currently awaiting the arrival of season 3. The Mandalorian, which explores the adventures of the titular bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal), is expected to return later this year. In the meantime, Disney+ has several other Star Wars offerings in the works, such as Obi-Wan KenobiAndor, and Ahsoka.

The last show on that list is a direct spinoff of The Mandalorian season 2, which introduced a slew of popular Star Wars from across the entire franchise. Going into the season, fans were perhaps most excited to see the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano, the beloved character from The Clone Wars who starts off as the padawan of Anakin Skywalker. Rosario Dawson played Ashoka in The Mandalorian season 2 and on The Book of Boba Fett; she will next lead Ahsoka, which likely won't debut until 2023 at the earliest.

As fans wait to see more of Dawson's Ahsoka, Mandalorian concept artist Brian Matyas gave them a treat by revealing an early look at her live-action design. Matyas said executive producer Dave Filoni was a fan of the grey costume palette shown in the sketch, leading Matyas to explore that while considering the rest of her appearance. The final design for Ahsoka's costume in The Mandalorian has a darker coloring to it, but there are still some elements of the clothes themselves that made it into the series. When The Mandalorian picks up with Ahsoka, she's in the middle of searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn. The series takes place after Star Wars' original trilogy, so while Ahsoka isn't quite on the run anymore in the aftermath of Order 66, she is keeping a rather solitary lifestyle all together. Though the grey palette shown in Matyas' art looks really nice, the darker shades chosen for The Mandalorian fit in more with where Ahsoka is in her journey.

Presumably, there will be plenty of updated looks for Ahsoka to try out when her solo series takes flight. Ahsoka has added a number of additional cast members beside Dawson, suggesting production could be getting closer. Odds are, though, The Mandalorian season 3 will arrive first, since it just wrapped filming last week. That show could perhaps provide some hints about where Ahsoka is off to next. At the same time, even if she doesn't turn up again on The Mandalorian, fans can rest easy knowing she has a major adventure ahead of her.
