The Mandalorian was the first live-action Star Wars TV show and a massive success, thanks to its exceptionally talented cast and highly memorable characters. Across three seasons and one spinoff show, The Mandalorian began as a gripping self-contained story before expanding into a TV universe that brought different parts of the Star Wars franchise together. From a small Star Wars Western to a proper continuation of the animated Star Wars shows, The Mandalorian took its characters on a memorable journey and continues to grow with each new season.

On top of The Mandalorian season 4 and another spinoff series, Jon Favreau will be directing the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, adding to the already long list of characters introduced so far. Existing characters are more important to the Star Wars franchise than ever, as anyone has the potential to appear in The Mandalorian or one of its spinoffs. This offers a chance for the team behind The Mandalorian to keep expanding the stories of established characters while still creating exciting new ones.

As Star Wars' first live-action TV show, The Mandalorian is both historic and beloved. Here are all 24 of its episodes, ranked from worst to best.

The Mandalorian Cast & Characters

Din Djarin, Bo-Katan Kryze, and Boba Fett.

Pedro Pascal As Din Djarin / The Mandalorian

Pedro Pascal plays the titular character in The Mandalorian, a bounty hunter on the run to protect an innocent child from the Empire. Din Djarin has grown considerably since the start of his journey, helping the Mandalorians retake their home planet and adopting Grogu as his son. Because the Mandalorians never remove their helmets, Pascal's face has only been seen three times throughout the series, allowing him to switch to a voice-only role for his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett as well as The Mandalorian season 3.

Pascal is best known for his roles as Oberyn Martell in HBO's Game of Thrones, Javier Peña in Netflix's Narcos, and Joel Miller in HBO's series adaptation of The Last of Us. Though no official cast announcement has been made just yet, it's likely Pascal will appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu movie to continue his journey as Din Djarin. The actor's role in The Mandalorian has launched him headfirst into massive fame, making him one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors.

Din Djarin is an iconic Star Wars character, and three actors have worked to bring him to life. Here are all three, and when they’re in the suit.

Grogu / The Child

Initially known as "The Child" and often referred to as "Baby Yoda," Grogu is the same species as the legendary Jedi Master and has an equally long lifespan. This shocked Din Djarin after being told that his bounty was 50 years old, causing him to betray the Bounty Hunters' Guild and save Grogu's life. While the two parted ways at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, they were reunited in The Book of Boba Fett. At the end of The Mandalorian season 3, Grogu became Din Grogu after Din Djarin adopted him as his son.

The first concept art for Grogu was created by Christian Alzmann, while the vocal sound effects were provided by David Acord. The incredible animatronic puppet and the highly talented team of puppeteers were provided by Legacy Effects. The hard work of these teams has since made Grogu one of Star Wars' most iconic and beloved characters, and his future in the franchise looks bright heading into The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.

Katee Sackhoff As Bo-Katan Kryze

Katee Sackhoff originally voiced Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels before making her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2. Din Djarin met her while she was searching for Moff Gideon and the Darksaber, as reclaiming it would allow her to reclaim the throne of Mandalore. However, Bo-Katan abandoned her mission after Din Djarin won the Darksaber in combat, but the two eventually teamed up again and brought their respective tribes together. The Mandalorian season 3 ended with Gideon's defeat and the Mandalorians retaking their home planet.

Outside the Star Wars franchise, Sackhoff is known for playing Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the Battlestar Galactica reboot series. She also played Niko Breckenridge in Another Life and Vic Moretti in Longmire. Sackhoff's Star Wars future after The Mandalorian season 3 is unknown, but it's likely she'll return in either The Mandalorian & Grogu movie or a potential The Mandalorian season 4.

Carl Weathers As Greef Karga

Greef Karga was the head of the Bounty Hunters' Guild and tried to kill Din Djarin after he saved Grogu from the Empire. However, he had a change of heart when Grogu used the Force to save his life, helping Din Djarin defeat Gideon and clear out the Imperials on Nevarro. He turned the planet into a prosperous trade outpost, and when Nevarro was attacked by pirates, the Mandalorians came to the planet's aid after being promised land to rebuild their society.

Carl Weathers is known for roles such as Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise and Al Dillon in Predator. In addition to acting in The Mandalorian, Weathers has also directed two episodes of the show. Weathers is more than likely to make his Star Wars theatrical debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu, and if The Mandalorian season 4 happens, viewers can likely depend on him gracing their screens as the High Magistrate yet again.

Emily Swallow as The Armorer

The Armorer was played by Emily Swallow in The Mandalorian season 1, later returning for a brief appearance in The Book of Boba Fett before taking on a larger role in The Mandalorian season 3. She was the leader of the Children of the Watch, providing them with honor in addition to preserving their Mandalorian heritage. Although she believed Bo-Katan had strayed from the right path, she later supported her efforts to unite the Mandalorians and retake Mandalore. Swallow played Kim Fischer in The Mentalist, The Darkness in Supernatural season 11, and was the voice of Emily in The Last of Us Part II.

Giancarlo Esposito As Moff Gideon

Moff Gideon was responsible for the Great Purge of Mandalore, claiming the Darksaber for himself and later becoming a member of the Imperial Shadow Council. Gideon hoped to use Grogu's blood to create Force-sensitive clones of himself, but these were destroyed by Din Djarin just before Gideon himself was killed. Giancarlo Esposito is one of Hollywood's go-to actors for TV villains, best known for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and its spinoff Better Call Saul. He also played Stan Edgar in The Boys and lent his voice to the animated movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

Cara Dune Greef Karga and Mando in The Mandalorian

Jon Favreau and Tait Fletcher As Paz Vizsla

Paz Vizsla in hiding in The Book of Boba Fett.

Series creator Jon Favreau voices the Mandalorian Paz Vizsla while Tait Fletcher dons the armor. Vizsla looked down on Din Djarin for the majority of The Mandalorian, seeing him as a coward who worked for the Empire and later an apostate who violated the Creed. However, Din Djarin constantly proved himself to the other Mandalorians, finally winning over Vizsla after saving his son's life. Vizsla was killed on Mandalore by the Praetorian Guards after staying behind to ensure that everyone else escaped. Jon Favreau is best known for kickstarting the Marvel Cinematic Universe by directing Iron Man, where he also starred as Happy Hogan.

In The Mandalorian season 1, Paz Vizsla's last name was originally a typo in the credits as "Vizla," a change that was only rectified directly preceding his brief appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.

Amy Sedaris As Peli Motto

Peli Motto holds Gorgu in her arms as she looks at the Mandalorian in The Mandalorian.

Amy Sedaris guest starred as Peli Motto in The Mandalorian season 1 before becoming a recurring character throughout the entire series. Sedaris previously played Jerri Blank in Comedy Central's Strangers with Candy and voiced Princess Carolyn in Netflix's BoJack Horseman. She even inspired a minor Star Wars character 18 years before The Mandalorian, an Imperial Inquisitor called Ameesa Darys.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee As Captain Carson Teva

Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer Carson Teva

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee had a few appearances as X-wing pilot Captain Carson Teva in The Mandalorian season 2 before having a larger role in season 2. He believed that there was a growing threat in the Outer Rim, but the higher-ups of the New Republic refused to acknowledge it. When pirates attacked Nevarro, he enlisted Din Djarin and the Mandalorians after the New Republic failed to take action. Season 3 ended with Captain Teva unofficially hiring Din Djarin to hunt down former Imperials.

Lee is best known as family patriarch Appa in Kim's Convenience and portrays Iroh in the live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Lee has also appeared as Carson Teva in the Star Wars TV show Ahsoka, a spinoff of The Mandalorian that saw him serving at General Hera Syndulla's side to assist Ahsoka Tano in her mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn. Koska Reeves was one of Bo-Katan's Mandalorian allies in The Mandalorian season 2, played by Mercedes Varnado. The Mandalorian is currently Reeves' only acting credit, but she has found fame as a professional wrestler in the WWE as Sasha Banks and in Japan as Mercedes Moné.

Simon Kassianides As Axe Woves

Simon Kassianides as Axe Woves in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 6.

Another of Bo-Katan's Mandalorian allies, Simon Kassianides' Axe Woves, only had a single episode in The Mandalorian season 2 but had a much larger role when he returned for season 3. Axe became the new leader of Bo-Katan's Mandalorians after they became mercenaries, later rejoining her after she defeated him in combat and reclaimed the Darksaber. Woves was instrumental in taking back Mandalore, and he is the only confirmed Mandalorian character to have been named by George Lucas himself. Kassianides is best known for his role as Sunil Bakshi in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Taika Waititi As IG-11

IG-11 is reborn as the Marshal of Nevarro in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 8

IG-11 was obsessed with self-destructing to avoid capture and was willing to kill Grogu before Din Djarin stopped him. After being reprogrammed, IG-11 became Grogu's protector and self-destructed to save him and everyone else from the Empire. Waititi returned to voice the droid again in season 3, eventually rebuilt to be the new Marshal of Nevarro. Waititi is best known for voicing Korg in the third and fourth Thor movies, which he also directed, and is set to write and direct an upcoming Star Wars movie.

O'Brian is a martial artist, bodybuilder, and actor who appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Black Lightning. She's also since appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as well as Love Lies Bleeding.

Pershing was eventually rescued by Din Djarin's crew, and after telling them where to find Gideon, he was taken by Cara Dune to the New Republic Amnesty Program. Wanting to continue his research to help others, Pershing was manipulated by Elia Kane, who used a Mind Flayer to erase his memories. Abtahi is also known for playing Salim in American Gods and Homes in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

Gina Carano As Cara Dune

Gina Carano played Cara Dune The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, a former Rebel shock trooper who teamed up with Din Djarin on several occasions. She became the Marshal of Nevarro and was recruited as a New Republic ranger, eventually leaving Nevarro after joining the New Republic Special Forces. This was done to explain Carano's absence after being fired from The Mandalorian over a controversial social media post, and there are no current plans for her character to return. Carano was an MMA star before The Mandalorian and is known for starring in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire with supporting roles in Deadpool and Fast & Furious 6.

Ming-Na Wen As Fennec Shand

Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian.

Her story continued in The Book of Boba Fett, and Ming-Na Wen lent her voice to a younger version of the character in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. She is no stranger to Disney roles, having appeared in Mulan and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. while her other TV credits include ER and Stargate Universe.

Her role as Fennec Shand in Star Wars has made Wen the first actress to complete a Disney trifecta: a Disney Princess, a Marvel hero, and a Star Wars character.

Bill Burr As Migs Mayfeld

Mayfeld in The Mandalorian

Bill Burr's Migs Mayfeld was a former Imperial sharpshooter who became part of Ranzar Malk's crew in The Mandalorian season 1. This offered Mayfeld some redemption and convinced the others to report him as dead rather than take him back to prison. Burr has appeared in Breaking Bad and F is for Family, and he also co-founded the All Things Comedy network.

Horatio Sanz As The Mythrol

Mythrol and Carbonite in The Mandalorian

Sanz was a long-time cast member on Saturday Night Live and has appeared in GLOW, Black Monday, and Zeroville.
