The Mandalorian season 2 may see a plot twist involving Greef Karga, Carl Weathers teases. Disney+'s live-action show is back for another season after its successful debut last year, and aside from Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda, the series will also bring back their other allies, including the Bounty Hunter Guild leader.

As a recap, The Mandalorian season 1 finale left Greef and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) in Nevarro as Din and Baby Yoda go on their mission to find the Jedi. Since then, they haven't been spotted, with "Chapter 9: The Marshal" primarily taking place on Tatooine. But, marketing for the series confirms that both Greef and Cara will factor in The Mandalorian season 2, with the pair eventually reuniting with Mando and the Child down the line. While fans wait for that, Weathers is teasing what fans can expect from his character in the upcoming episode, including a potential plot twist.

Appearing on Breakfast Television Toronto to promote the arrival of The Mandalorian season 2, the seasoned actor teases the overall story for the season, talking about what Din, Baby Yoda, and Cara are up to in the new episodes. When it came to talking about his character, Weathers interestingly said that Greef is "having fun doing what he does — being duplicitous." Upon further pressing, he continued by revealing more about the character's upcoming arc.

"Not really, I personally like the fact that he doesn't divulge a lot about himself because I think, in some ways, the less you know, the more interested you are in knowing, and Greef plays things pretty close to the vest, so I think that we... in the episode I directed, we hint that there may be some ulterior motives in Greef's desires and what he's after you know, his goals and I personally think that's more than enough."

Weathers mentions the episode he's directing for The Mandalorian in the interview; at this point, it's still unknown which one in the next seven outings. That said, the actor is one of the few new directors for the show including Peyton Reed, Robert Rodriguez, and interestingly creator Jon Favreau who helmed The Mandalorian season 2 premiere after sitting out on season 1. Meanwhile, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Rick Famuyiwa return after their stints behind the camera last year.

Greef being duplicitous isn't exactly new. In The Mandalorian season 1's penultimate episode titled "Redemption," he was originally going to kill Din, grab Baby Yoda, and offer it to The Client (Werner Herzog). But after a near-death experience where The Child healed him, he ultimately changed his mind and came clean to Din about what he was supposedly going to do. From there, Greef was presented as an ally, helping Mando and Baby Yoda escape Nevarro. That said, the heroes were also under the assumption that they successfully killed Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). While Din didn't learn about the villain's survival, Greef and Care may have since they stayed back in Nevarro. Perhaps this could lead to Greef's potential betrayal. In any case, if the show won't reveal much of the character's backstory in the current year, there's always a season 3 where they can fully flesh Greef out.
