With multiple reports confirming Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2, it is nearly certain that Dawson's Ahsoka will recognize the famed green child's species - and perhaps even be the first person to call him "Baby Yoda" on-screen. The Mandalorian season 2 just wrapped filming and is set to be released on Disney+ some time this fall. Season 1 of The Mandalorian was a universal success, popular because of its excellent storytelling and acting. Its main attraction, however, was the emergence of "Baby Yoda," a mysterious young force-wielding creature that is the same species as Yoda from the Star Wars films. Very little is known about their species and fans are hopeful that the appearance of a Jedi on the show of the caliber of Ahsoka will shed more light on Baby Yoda's background.

Ahsoka Tano is one of the main characters in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka was the padawan of Anakin Skywalker, and though he was reluctant to the responsibility of taking on a learner, the two of them developed a very strong bond over the course of the series. Ahsoka has been absent from the past two seasons of The Clone Wars after leaving the Jedi Order in season 5. She made a return to The Clone Wars in the most recent episode: season 7, episode 5. In this episode she reveals what happened to her after she left the Jedi Order. She has also shown up in other Star Wars media prior to her return to The Clone Wars, appearing in Star Wars: Rebels as well as lending her voice in Rise of Skywalker.

Rosario Dawson has worked on Disney shows in the past, playing a key role in Daredevil and The DefendersShe also has been campaigning to play Ahsoka for quite some time and has the support of many Star Wars fans who wish to see her take on the role on The Mandalorian. She would be an invaluable ally for Din Djarin and the group in their quest to protect Baby Yoda and defeat Moff Gideon.

Ahsoka trains with Yoda in Star Wars Forces of Destiny

Ashoka's appearance on the show would bring something to the table that hasn't been seen yet in The Mandalorian: someone who truly remembers and knows the Jedi Order. She would be able to help Baby Yoda control his powers and provide him with necessary training to develop his force capabilities. At this point, only Ahsoka and the remaining forces of the Empire truly understand how powerful Baby Yoda is and could eventually become.

Little is known about Dawson's level of involvement in season 2 of The Mandalorian, though hers will reportedly be a guest role rather than a season regular. However, her presence alone will garner massive amounts of excitement from Star Wars fans who love and appreciate the strong character that she is, and are interested to see how she connects the show's present to the past.
