Pedro Pascal shares what it's like to wear his now-iconic helmet on The Mandalorian. Later this year, Pascal will don the beskar helmet and armor for the eagerly anticipated third season of The Mandalorian. The Disney+ show is in production on season 3, and a recent report has said it could return by Christmastime. That would be welcome news for the fans who have been waiting well over a year to pick up with Din Djarin following the hugely successful Mandalorian season 2, which aired back in the fall of 2020.

Pascal's acclaimed Star Wars show may be on hiatus, yet it has received more buzz in the past few weeks than it did throughout all of 2021. As fans wait for the arrival of The Mandalorian season 3, Disney+ opted to bridge the gap by debuting The Book of Boba Fett. The series was meant to be an exploration of bounty hunter Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), yet Pascal's Mandalorian stole the show near the end when he put in a surprise appearance. At least, it was Pascal's voice; behind the scenes photos showed it was his double Brandon Wayne who stood in for him during The Book of Boba Fett.

Nevertheless, Pascal has worn that familiar helmet many times, and while some might think it's a burden, he doesn't see it as such. During a recent interview with the German magazine Neelix, Pascal answered the question of whether he finds the helmet restrictive in any way. He replied no and revealed what it felt like to put it on for the first time. Pascal's translated answer is:

"No, not at all. Honestly, the moment when I put on the Mandalorian's helmet is indescribable. It sits like a glove, as if it were, like the armor, a part of me. It is not difficult for me to move in it and hardly restricts me. Only my facial expressions suffer a little from the costume."

Wearing a helmet can certainly limit an actor's performance, but as long as it doesn't restrict their actual movements, there's still much that can be conveyed through body language. Pascal does this exceptionally well on The Mandalorian, showing the audience how Din feels through his head tilts and the way he holds himself. Pascal's comment about how the helmet becomes a part of him is especially fitting. In keeping with Mandalorian lore, Din must always wear his helmet around others. It's a part of his identity, so it's cool to hear that Pascal has begun to feel the same whenever he's slipping into Din's shoes.

Though he might not have been the one on set for The Book of Boba Fett, fans can rest assured that Pascal will be back full time for The Mandalorian season 3. Din's recent appearance on Boba Fett has laid the groundwork for where he will go next within the Star Wars universe, and the next several months will undoubtedly be filled with plenty of speculation about what's ahead. Pascal remains the perfect lead for The Mandalorian, so it will be exciting to see him back in the role when season 3 arrives.
