The Mandalorian movie is coming to culminate Din Djarin and Grogu's Disney+ arc from George Lucas' apprentice. Amid the chaos with the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the franchise found a smash hit in the Jon Favreau-created The Mandalorian. Following Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin as he becomes the father figure to an infant from the same species as Yoda named Grogu.

It has been announced at Star Wars Celebrations 2023, which is currently happening in London and being attended by SR, that Din and Grogu's arc is coming to an end. But, instead of wrapping it up on Disney+, it will be through a The Mandalorian film that will be directed by Dave FIloni.

What To Expect From The Mandalorian Movie

Before Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, he worked closely with Filoni. After spearheading the animated pocket of Star Wars with Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, he gradually transitioned to live-action, helping Favreau launch The Mandalorian. But, being Lucas' apprentice means that Filoni is well-versed in the lore. This means that he may go a deeper dive into Jedi and Mandalore as the franchise culminates Din and Grogu's story.

As for what to expect from The Mandalorian movie, it's safe to say that it will bring as many familiar faces to the big screen. The Disney+ show already featured several cameos so it's likely that Lucasfilm and Disney would want to dial things up for the movie. Characters like Ahsoka, Zeb, and maybe even Luke Skywalker might pop up.

Finally, The Mandalorian season 3 will likely be a stepping stone to whatever happens in the planned movie. The show's current storytelling is doing a deep dive into Mandalore and the Mandalorian culture which could play a part in what comes next for Grogu and Din Djarin. Perhaps, the events of The Mandalorian film could fill narrative gaps leading to what happens in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
