Giancarlo Esposito has covered a lot of ground in his career, but he's thinks there's one more place he needs to visit: The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Esposito is best known for playing terrifying drug kingpin Gustavo Fring on Breaking Bad, and has actually been nominated for Emmys for playing the role. Even despite Breaking Bad ending its run years ago, Esposito is still chilling audiences on the prequel series Better Call Saul, where he continues to play Fring. Plus, Esposito has several other high-profile roles on the way, such as for the video game Far Cry 6 and Amazon's The Boys.

Still, Esposito's most anticipated role this year is arguably in Disney+'s The MandalorianEsposito plays big bad Moff Gideon, an Imperial commander with a peculiar interest in the adorable Baby Yoda. For much of The Mandalorian's first season, Gideon's presence loomed large, but it wasn't until the final episodes that he appeared. However, he's expected to play a much bigger role in season 2. With Star Wars now fully under his belt, Esposito is turning to another major Disney franchise.

Esposito recently spoke with Entertainment Tonightwhere he revealed some of his future career goals. With rumors floating around that he's being considered for a role in the MCU, Esposito was quick to address them and share his hopes. "There's been all these rumors about being with Marvel. I want to work with those guys, I've put it out into the world," Esposito said, though he didn't create the rumors himself. He also said he wants to "do something enduring with them," and that "I think the Marvel world would be, likely, the next step for me."

Giancarlo Esposito as Mr Edgar in The Boys

Esposito has long aimed to join the Marvel universe. Back in 2016, Esposito shared Marvel once approached him with a television role, but he turned it down because it likely wouldn't have allowed him to appear in a film. With Marvel making plans for several more years of content, there's likely going to be plenty of opportunities for Esposito to find his way into the MCU. In addition to movies, the MCU is reinventing their approach to television with shows headed for Disney+ that will connect to the films in deeper ways than previous shows.

Luckily for Esposito, he already has a way in. With his role in The Mandalorian, he's already a part of the Disney family. Plus, there have been several people who have worked on The Mandalorian from the MCU, from series creator Jon Favreau to director/actor Taika Waititi. Now that Esposito has reiterated his desire to be in a Marvel project, don't be surprised if he joins one sometime soon. After all, Marvel would be a little stupid to turn down someone of Esposito's caliber.
