The Mandalorian actress Ming-Na Wen wants her character Fennec Shand to become a Jedi, complete with an orange lightsaber. Thanks to her roles as an animated princess and a SHIELD agent, Wen is a Disney legend in her own right. She's best known for voicing Mulan and playing Melinda May on Agents of SHIELD, though she's now making a name for herself within the Star Wars universe. Wen first debuted as sharpshooter Fennec Shand in a season 1 episode of The Mandalorian, though her run appeared to be cut short when she was killed off in that same installment.

Of course, no one is ever really gone in Star Wars, and Wen's Shand was revived in The Mandalorian season 2. After playing a key role in the back half of the show's sophomore run, Fennec went on to guest star on Star Wars: The Bad Batch, with Wen naturally lending her voice to the part. She'll be seen again later this year when The Book of Boba Fett arrives on Disney+, which will further her live-action story. For a character who seemingly died in her very first onscreen appearance, Fennec Shand is doing rather well.

For her part, Wen has some major aspirations for her Star Wars character. Screen Rant sat down with Wen to talk The Bad Batch, and during the conversation, the actress shared her hopes for Fennec's future. Since Wen is a major Star Wars fan, it perhaps isn't surprising that she wants her alter ego to become a Jedi. She said:

Well, selfishly - that she becomes a Jedi! I mean, didn’t we all want to become Jedi when we were younger? How crazy would that be, right? I’ve already pictured that she would have an orange lightsaber, because that’s her color.

The orange lightsaber is a rare one within Star Wars lore, having first debuted in the video game Jedi: Fallen Order. There have been some examples of unique lightsaber colors onscreen over the years, from Mace Windu's (Samuel L. Jackson) purple blade to Rey's (Daisy Ridley) yellow one. If Wen's dreams were to come true, and she gets the chance to wield an orange lightsaber, she could very well be the first one to do it outside of the video game sphere.

With Fennec Shand appearing in The Book of Boba Fett later this year, it looks like her Star Wars journey still has plenty of life left in it. The series is expected to tie into The Mandalorian, so she could continue to play a role there beyond the recent season 2. In other words, there are other places for Fennec to pop up within the franchise. Whether she'll evolve enough to become a Jedi remains to be seen, but Wen would definitely be on board with the idea.
