With the first season nearing its end, The Mandalorian has become the hottest show on Disney Plus. Baby Yoda and his faithful companion and guardian, Mando, have become the next big thing for Lucasfilm. On top of that, it gives Disney some breathing room to create the next trilogy with the end of the Skywalker Saga this past month.

But with new characters brings the opportunity for old ones to return with hundreds that fans would love to see in The Mandalorian. The choices are endless between two trilogies to pick from, all rich with some lovable heroes and foes.  With that, here are 10 Characters We’d Like To See in The Mandalorian.

Lor San Tekka

Despite playing a brief role at the beginning of The Force Awakens, legendary actor Max Von Sydow's portrayal of the resistance member was imperative to the delivery of Luke's location. With his wise demeanor and Kenobi-esque wisdom, Lor San Tekka would act as the perfect bridge character between the Imperial dynasty and their inevitable downfall. Not only would it be great to see Max Von Sydow on the big screen again but it'd allow for some context on the transition between the empire and the formation of the New Republic.

Bossk

The fearsome Trandoshan warrior had a minor role in Empire Strikes Back but introduced fans to Bounty hunters from across the galaxy. In the expanded universe (comic books, novels, and even the animated series) Bossk is given more background and character development, especially in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Seeing older characters like Bossk would boost the nostalgia level up for long-time Star Wars fans. Who knows, there could be a possible Mando and Bossk team up or it could mean the two going head to head as enemies.

IG-88

Not to be confused with IG-11 as seen in The Mandalorian, the merciless bounty-hunting droid IG-88 would be one of (if not the ultimate) nemesis for the Mandalorian. Considering his inherent distrust towards droids, Mando would have no problem taking out IG-88. Like Bossk, IG-88's reputation is well deserved seeing as IG-11 possessed similar combat skills as a bounty hunting droid. These two would not get along but would make for the competitive battle between the two.

Lando Calrissian

The old space pirate was brought back for The Rise of Skywalker and his return was met with praise from fans. With CGI, it's possible to bring back a younger Lando for an appearance in the show. Even if it's a brief role in an episode, seeing the smuggler doing what he did best would bring some laughs and context as to what Lando did after the fall of the Empire.

Anything is possible in the realm of Star Wars, meaning an appearance of the beloved Rebellion general is not out of the question. Considering the prominent role he played in The Rise of Skywalker, it's safe to assume Lando is in the fold to appear.

Maz Kanata

As one of the key figures in the new trilogy, Maz Kanata's character and history are shrouded in mystery with her force-sensitive abilities and old age. With only a small bit of information pertaining to her history, it wouldn't be a surprise to find Maz roaming the cantinas of the outer rim. As one of the few possible allies on this list, Maz's appearance could also bring about an explanation to the retrieval of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. Connected or not, Maz would complement Mando's character development with her wisdom and insight, adding a layer of sympathy and affection to him.

Chewbacca

Chewbacca roars in Star Wars.

The beloved co-pilot of the best smuggler in the galaxy, Chewbacca is always welcomed to any Star Wars entry, regardless of where and when it takes place. Not only does he bring a layer of humor but love and protection to those he cares about. His devotion to the mission would go well with the principle-driven Mandalorian, meaning these two would work well together. However, seeing as Han is still alive after the Empire's demise, it's possible Chewbacca's appearance could mean his as well.

Dengar

Another one of the Empire Strikes Back bounty-hunting crew, Dengar is one the most fearsome of the bunch. Since the early stages of the Clone Wars, the Corellian born bounty hunter has brought down some mighty foes and has even collaborated with Bossk and Boba Fett. Given his rich history in the expanded universe, Dengar is a perfect character to bring back from the original trilogy to give him color and life rather than the lifeless stand-in from Empire  Strikes Back.

Wedge Antilles

The best pilot in Rogue Squadron (next to Luke Skywalker) Wedge is a fan favorite as one of the few to serve in all three of the major battles from the original trilogy. Seeing that he made a cameo in the latest entry, The Rise of Skywalker, an appearance from the pilot is possible as a member of the New Republic fleet.

On top of that, his inclusion in the new Resistance Reborn novel suggests he played an integral role in training the next generation of the X-Wing pilots. Who knows, maybe fans will see Wedge as Rogue 2 once more.

Emperor Palpatine

This one may be a bit of a stretch, but his appearance in the series might help explain how he survived after his fall in the Death Star. Emperor Palpatine's rise to power was clear, coherent and quite crafty in the prequels. But his sudden rise in the latest entry is still unclear, leaving fans clueless as to how he survived. With imperial loyalists still around, perhaps an explanation as to how Palpatine survived from The Client or Moff Gideon may clear the shroud of mystery that is the survival of the sith.

Boba Fett

As the most obvious but most asked for from fans, Boba Fett has to make an appearance at least once in The Mandalorian. The two share the same way of life and would make a lethal dynamic duo, similar to Mando and IG-11. As the OG Mandalorian, Boba Fett's return would be a welcomed addition for fans whose roots go all the way back to his father, Jango. Boba Fett is without a doubt one of the coolest characters in the Star Wars universe as a man of few words. But his actions speak for him as one of the deadliest and effective bounty hunters in the galaxy.
