The Mandalorian has introduced a host of new fan-favorite characters to the Star Wars universe, and here's which ones deserve their own spinoff. Jon Favreau began the process of creating the first live-action Star Wars series a few years ago for Disney's streaming service. When The Mandalorian was released in late 2019, viewers met the mysterious Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and were then surprised to see The Child aka Baby Yoda at the end of the first episode.

Din Djarin and Baby Yoda's adventures together have been the focus of The Mandalorian through two seasons, with the series taking more of a "mission of the week" approach to creating its own corner of the galaxy far, far away. Throughout these missions, the main characters have crossed paths with a bunch of different characters. Season 1 saw Kuill (Nick Nolte), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and IG-11 (Taika Waititi) become recurring characters, although Kuill and IG-11 died by the end of the season. The Mandalorian season 2 has included characters both new and familiar to the show and the Star Wars franchise at large.

Thanks to the structure that The Mandalorian appears to follow, though, most of the supporting characters featured in the show only get an episode or two. Although it could be said that these characters excel because of the small doses, there are a lot of fascinating characters that are worth exploring in greater depths. The Mandalorian season 2 and beyond might be able to accomplish such a goal, but Disney+ could use more original content, especially from Star Wars. Only a few of the other shows in the works are known, but there have been talks of The Mandalorian launching a few spinoffs. Here are the characters who should get a Disney+ show of their own.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett is a prime candidate to get a spinoff following his return in The Mandalorian season 2. Back when the show was first conceived, there was speculation that the main character could secretly be the famous bounty hunter. While that didn't happen, Temuera Morrison has helped bring him back to life officially in Star Wars canon. His appearance at the end of the first episode of season 2 is setting up something, and while that might include another episode or two in The Mandalorian, Boba Fett has enough interest to carry his own show. There are even rumors that a Boba Fett Disney+ spinoff is already in the works.

If Boba Fett does star in a Disney+ show, there is a lot of ground that it could cover. The story that fans are undoubtedly most interested in learning about is how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc pit. This story isn't enough to support an entire show, as it should be just one day in Boba's life. But, what happened to after could be the basis of a spinoff, one that explores why he hasn't reacquired his Mandalorian armor yet. Depending on how his potential return in The Mandalorian season 2 goes, his spinoff could even continue his story forward, adjacent with Din Djarin's.

Bo-Katan Kryze

There is already great interest and potential in Bo-Katan Kryze getting a spinoff as well. Katee Sackhoff voiced the Mandalorian warrior and eventual leader in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels before making a live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2. But, there is still a lot of room to explore new adventures with Bo-Katan. A spinoff could go back and fill in the gaps between Clone Wars and Rebels, or even help build The Mandalorian's world by showcasing the Great Purge. Elements of both could fit into The Mandalorian season 2, but there's also enough story there and beyond to do more. And with the response to Bo-Katan's live-action debut being so positive, fans would likely welcome the chance to see her at the center of a story. This could even be a chance for Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) and Axe Woves (Simon Kassianides) to return.

Cobb Vanth

The Mandalorian season 2 also sparked interest from some in seeing more of Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant). While readers of Chuck Wendig's Aftermath novels were already familiar with the Marshal on Tatooine, the first episode of season 2 introduced Cobb Vanth to a bigger audience. The show has already explained how the Marshal got Boba Fett's old armor, but there are years of untouched potential adventures for Cobb to go on as he protects Mos Pelgo. With Olyphant's history playing major characters in westerns, his show could lean even harder into the genre.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano is coming to The Mandalorian in season 2 with Rosario Dawson playing the fan-favorite former Jedi. She could be the top option to get a spinoff from Lucasfilm since she's already so popular after major roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. However, there is still a lot of time in Ahsoka's story that hasn't been explored. A live-action series could focus on closing the gap between the series finale of Clone Wars and her re-emergence during Rebels. Another idea could see the show be a sequel to Rebels and focus on Ahsoka and Sabine on their mission to find Ezra. In any case, this series could be a chance to give Dave Filoni complete control of a live-action Star Wars property.

Moff Gideon

The Disney+ Star Wars shows are so far focusing on good guys, but the format is also a great opportunity to flesh out some villains too. Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) appeared at the end of season one and has only had a small role in season two (so far), but it's been confirmed Gideon will play a bigger role in season 3. This should give The Mandalorian more time to explore his character, but it would also be fascinating to see Gideon be the center of his own story. It could pick up shortly after the fall of the Empire and show how Gideon amassed so much power, set the stage for the First Order's rise, and even fill in some gaps for the sequel trilogy. And even though extended Star Wars canon materials have focused on the Empire's point of view, a Gideon series could be a chance to bring it to live-action.

Carson Teva

If a series focused on the bad guys scrambling after defeat could work, then perhaps Disney+ could be the place to show the day-to-day life of the New Republic. The Mandalorian season 2 has used X-wing pilot Captain Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) a few times already, so he could be one of the stars of a spinoff series revolving around X-wing pilots. Teva's past experience in battles has already been teased, but this would also be a chance to show how the New Republic is patrolling the galaxy and trying to wipe out any remnants of the Empire. This show could follow a very similar mission of the week approach as The Mandalorian, but it would have the necessary tools to be more space-focused and possibly include some big space battles.

Fennec Shand

When it was announced that Ming-Na Wen joined the cast of The Mandalorian, fans had high expectations for what role she could play. So far, Fennec Shand has only appeared in a single episode where she was shot and seemingly taken by either Boba Fett or Cobb Vanth. While she could return in The Mandalorian or spinoffs for either of the aforementioned characters, Ming-Na Wen's assassin could get a series of her own. Thanks to her prowess as an action star, a Fennec Shand series could be more action-based.
