While a lot of the love The Mandalorian has received online has had to do with his parenting skills and the adorableness of his sidekick, recent episodes (Episode 6: The Prisoner, in particular) have given us a better look at the bounty hunter's actual bounty hunting skills. We saw him struggle a little bit in the first two episodes against beasts and imperials, but fully understand his legendary reputation in the guild after watching him take out the droids on the New Republic prison transport. He's not invincible, which is probably why fans like Mando, but he's certainly not helpless. In the long history of bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe he doesn't sit at number one, but neither would Mando be someone to avoid hiring. Here are a few hunters who could probably catch Mando if they had to and some that wouldn't stand a chance.

Catch Him - Jas Emari

Jas Emari

Jas is a Zabrak Bounty Hunter who appears in the Chuck Wendig, Aftermath trilogy. She has a long history of success (bounty hunters run in her family) and is known for having worked for both the Empire and the Rebellion/Resistance. Her success working both sides certainly makes her a threat to Mando and his sidekick, Baby Yoda.

She's also particularly talented with a long-range rifle and is known to improvise with any items within reach when the situation demands it. Her ability to work on the fly, as well as at a distance makes her a worthy adversary.

No Chance - Greef Karga

Greef Karga, the Mandalorian

Greef Karga, like Mando himself, was introduced on The Mandalorian. He may hold the head position in the Bounty Hunter's Guildbut we've already watched him fail to apprehend Mando multiple times in only seven episodes. He may once have been great but his administrative work has certainly set him back. In fact, had he not had beskar in his pocket at the time, Mando would already have killed his former "boss". Luck is not enough in this trade.

Catch Him - Black Krrsantan

Black Krrsantan was a Wookie Bounty Hunter during the Galactic Civil War. He appears most often in the Star Wars comics. Krrsantan has been hired in the past by both Jabba the Hutt and Darth Vader; it takes quite the reputation for Darth Vader to take notice. He actually came very close to capturing Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, when both were living on Tatooine. He was known to be one of Jabba's best hunters, second only to Boba Fett. Skilled with a bowcaster and in hand-to-hand combat, he learned to fight as a gladiator.

No Chance - Dengar

Dengar is everywhere in the Star Wars universe, but he's never the hero. One of the bounty hunters sent after the Millennium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back, he fails to find it.

He is then present in Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi and is unable to prevent the rescue of Han Solo. That alone is a pretty sad track record. Dengar is also very unpopular amongst his peers, known to be rude and disorderly, he likes to make a lot of noise, throwing whatever he can in terms of shots and explosives at targets.

Catch Him - Boba Fett

Boba Fett is the most well-known Bounty Hunter in the Star Wars universe for a reason. Trained from a young age in combat by his father, another bounty hunter, Jengo Fett, Boba grew beyond his father's skills (likely motivated by the anger he nursed throughout his life at the death of his father). Regularly equipped with a jetpack, flamethrower, whipcord launcher, lasers, and his ship, Slave I, he was feared for his fighting prowess and tactical genius. It takes quite the mind to hunt down the Millennium Falcon

No Chance - Jango Fett

While the son may have been the clone of the father, Jango Fett did not have the skills of his son, Boba. Perhaps it was because of the time he took off while working as the template for the Clone Army on Kamino, but we watch him fail far more often than his son. He is unable to catch Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino, and perishes when confronted by the Jedi on Geonosis. He must have been successful once, or he would not have been a suitable template for a fighting force, but he would never have been able to keep up with a real Mandalorian.

Catch Him - Ventress

Asajj Ventress prepares to fight Dooku

Asajj Ventress, a key character in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show, was a female from Dathomir. The importance of her being from Dathomir? It means she wasn't only a bounty hunter, but a force-sensitive one, as well. A lightsaber user (trained by Count Dukoo himself) Ventress was also skilled in force telekinesis and force-aided jumps, as well as hand-to-hand combat. Her determination in and of itself made her a feared enemy. Her skills, aided by her force ability, were always a lethal combination.

No Chance - IG-88

ig-88

The IG-88 Assassin Droid was one of the group called to Darth Vader when he wanted the Millennium Falcon found in The Empire Strikes Back. An IG-88 also makes an appearance in the first and, later, seventh episode of The Mandalorian television show.

While well-programmed and often lethal, viewers already witnessed Mando best the droid upon their first meeting. They may come with great firepower, but the droid lacks quick reflexes, and the ability to read those around them. It also has a strange propensity for self-destruction.

Catch Him - Cad Bane

Cad Bane

A bounty hunter from Duros, Cad Bane appears in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show. Considered a specialist when facing Jedi, Bane was famous for the heist of the holocron from the Jedi Temple. He also successfully captured Jedi Master Bolla Ropal. Those were only two of Bane's many successes. He very much deserved his place as top bounty hunter in the galaxy during the war. Having been able to fool and secure Jedi, it may not have been terribly difficult for Bane to take out a single Mandalorian.

No Chance - Greedo

Greedo

Greedo is known as a bounty hunter only because of his failure. He, after all, is the rodian who approaches Han Solo in the first Star Wars film in the Mos Eisley Cantina. As everyone in our world knows, Greedo dies. Many also believe that not only did Han Solo shoot first, he was the only one in the pair to shoot at all (looking at you original release of Star Wars). No matter what you believe in the "who shot first" debate, the fact is, Greedo is the one who dies. That doesn't say much about his skills, or any success he might have had in a future career.
