Now that Bo-Katan Kryze has appeared in The Mandalorian season 2, here are the most important episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels to watch. The second season of The Mandalorian is responsible for bringing back some significant characters from Star Wars canon. Cobb Vanth made the jump from the novels to live-action in the first episode, which also ended with Boba Fett's return. Fans of the animated Star Wars library were treated to another return in episode 3.

The Mandalorian season 2 brought Bo-Katan Kryze to live-action for the first time with the third episode. Bo-Katan was a recurring character in the animated content made by Dave Filoni, who is a producer on The Mandalorian and works closely with creator Jon Favreau. Her live-action debut saw Katee Sackhoff reprise the role after voicing the Mandalorian for years on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. She arrived just in time in The Mandalorian, as Bo-Katan helped save Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and The Child aka Baby Yoda and point them in the direction of a Jedi, Ahsoka Tano.

The appearance of Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season 2 worked well for those who aren't familiar with any of her past stories in Star Wars. But, fans who have kept up to date on Star Wars' animated content know much more about her journey. Bo-Katan's history with Ahsoka and connection to the Darksaber will likely come up again during The Mandalorian season 2. While some of this information will be treated as new since Din will learn it for the first time, many fans already know Bo-Katan's history. For those looking to catch up or get a refresher on what she's done in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, here are Bo-Katan's most important episodes.

Clone Wars Season 4, Episode 14

Although Bo-Katan and her blue armor can be seen in the background in previous episodes and in a non-speaking capacity, her first real appearance came in The Clone Wars season 4, episode 14. The episode, titled "A Friend in Need," sees Bo-Katan introduced as a member of Death Watch as she is sent to greet Lux Bonteri, the son of a Separatist Senator who recently passed. Lux meets Bo-Katan and Death Watch on the planet Carlac to discuss joining forces to defeat Count Dooku, who has been accused of being involved in the death of Senator Bonteri. Ahsoka is forced to join Lux on this mission and encounters Bo-Katan when they arrive on Carlac.

Bo-Katan's role in the episode establishes her leadership position within Death Watch and shows pieces of her radical past. The main goal of Death Watch is to return Mandalore to its warrior ways. She takes part in destroying a village on Carlac based on the orders of Death Watch's leader Pre Vizsla. This is where she learns that Ahsoka is a Jedi and helps subdue her. When Ahsoka eventually manages to escape Death Watch's capture, Bo-Katan is one of the members who tries to fight her again. However, Ahsoka gets free and leaves Bo-Katan with Death Watch.

Clone Wars Season 5, Episodes 15-16

Bo-Katan Kryze and Obi Wan Team Up in Star Wars The Clone Wars

An arc in Clone Wars season 5 proved to be quite important for Bo-Katan. Although the events could be tied back to episode 14, the bulk of Bo-Katan's story comes over two episodes. It starts with episode 15, titled "Shades of Reason," which sees the beginning of Darth Maul's attack on Mandalore. This has a bit more weight for Bo-Katan, as her sister Duchess Satine is the current leader of the planet. Bo-Katan crashes her sister's speech to get Mandalore's citizens to support Death Watch's plans. This required taking Satine and Darth Maul prisoner, but Maul eventually escaped and demanded a duel with Pre Vizsla for the right to rule. Maul defeated Vizsla and took control of Death Watch, though. Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls disputed his leadership and fled the scene.

This arc concludes with episode 16, titled "The Lawless." Bo-Katan is now on her own with the Nite Owls and rescues Satine from prison. Now that she's reunited with her sister, Bo-Katan agrees that they need the help of Obi-Wan Kenobi to defeat Maul and take back Mandalore. However, Satine is kidnapped again by Maul. Once Kenobi arrives, Maul kills Satine in front of him and Bo-Katan. The devastating loss sees Bo-Katan work with Kenobi to help him flee Mandalore to potentially bring the aid of the Republic. Now without Death Watch or her sister, The Clone Wars pushes Bo-Katan to be on her own and become more of a leader.

Clone Wars Season 7, Episodes 9 & 10

Ahsoka Rex and Bo-Katan in Star Wars The Clone Wars season 7

Bo-Katan returned in The Clone Wars to take part in the Siege of Mandalore arc that helped close out the seven-season run. After crossing paths with Ahsoka in the prior episode, Bo-Katan becomes a more central figure in episode 9, titled "Old Friends Not Forgotten." Bo-Katan and Ahsoka contact Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to tell them that they've located Darth Maul. Bo-Katan and the Nite Owls had tracked Maul for months and discovered he is located in the Mandalore city Sundari. Bo-Katan confesses that the only reason she's seeking the help of the Jedi and Republic is due to her own lack of forces. They use their collective strength to attack Mandalore and go on the hunt for Maul.

Episode 10, "The Phantom Apprentice" continues this story with Bo-Katan primarily focusing on doing what she can to end Maul's reign. She comes into conflict with Gar Saxon, the leader of Maul's version of Death Watch, on multiple occasions. He escapes her capture at first but helps the clone army overwhelm his forces. Bo-Katan ends the episode helping detain Maul for the Republic and positioned to become the new leader of Mandalore.

Rebels Season 4, Episodes 1 & 2

Bo Katan in Star Wars Rebels

Bo-Katan only appeared in two episodes of Star Wars: Rebels, but they proved to be very important to her overall journey - and where she finds herself in The Mandalorian season 2. The first two episodes of season four saw Bo-Katan meet Ursa and Sabine Wren during their quest to find a new leader for Mandalore. After initially assuming a leadership position after the Clone Wars, she was forcefully removed for not adhering to the Empire's orders. This history leads Bo-Katan to turn down the Wren's offer to become the new wielder of the Darksaber and take on the title of Mand'alor.

However, Bo-Katan proceeded to prove why she was a great choice to lead. She agreed to help Sabine try and destroy a weapon specifically designed to disintegrate Mandalorians. Bo-Katan played a major role in planning the attack and executing it in the field. She even advised Sabine against killing Governor Saxon because it was not the Mandalorian way. Once the assault was complete and the Mandalorians returned to safety, Bo-Katan was once again presented with the Darksaber. This time she reluctantly agreed to wield the weapon and help take Mandalore into the future. Of course, Moff Gideon's possession of the Darksaber in The Mandalorian proves that something happened after and explains why Bo-Katan is looking for him in season 2.
