Ahsoka Tano is easily one of the best characters in The Mandalorian. The former Jedi Padawan who, after the events of the Clone Wars, helped lead the rebel cells against the Galactic Empire, receives a war veteran treatment on the show, and it totally works for the storyline.

All For One

Ukrainian digital artist Igor tried several modes of painting for his Ahsoka fan art, but the realisticness is key to each one of his stylizations. He did a value study first of some characters from Clone Wars and some specific shots and then moved on to more elaborate pencil sketches; he revealed on Instagram that he was also inspired by memes and lo-fi aesthetic drawings by digital artists.

Most of his fan art pieces are actually a recreation of cosplay shoots, and this one especially uses some animated illustration and is a recreation of a cosplay shoot featuring LA-based filmmaker and cosplayer Rei Kennex.

Perfect Strokes

Ahsoka Fan Art Digital

Germany-based self-taught artist Anna took some fun, creative liberties with her Ahsoka fan art, but was very specific about the kind of tonality she was going for. Like many digital artists, she started out with a pencil sketch and spent a lot of time getting the facial features right and she then moved towards digital illustrations.

She even made a Tik Tok about her process, which dug deeper into her basic sketches; the hyper contrasted tonality of the detailing really helps the illustration pop.

“Titled 'Ahsoka Forever' I want to celebrate the story of Ahsoka through the Clone Wars and Rebels. I’ve done a lot of Ahsoka art these past couple of years and this one is my favorite. I hope you all love it,” he wrote on Instagram.

This piece was used for a limited edition commissioned line of pins. Titled ‘Ahsoka and The Child,’ this art has been made into 3.5 inches raised metal sandblast pins with translucent enamel, black nickel plating, pearl, glitter, screenprint details, and custom back stamp.

Artist bembq uses some easy pop art detailing in most of her art and uses some interesting coloring techniques. In this piece, especially, she tries to contemporize Ahsoka by putting her in a mask and in a breezy, spacey suit. She also uses some modern techniques usually used in comic art pieces to make this piece edgier. Her experience in digital pop-art helps her with fan art pieces because she can experiment with snazzy illustration techniques that make the pieces stand out.

Perth-based illustrator and aspiring comic book artist Geordie Edmeades has done a lot of Star Wars illustrations, both digital and manual. In this dynamic fan art, he imagines the big battle between Ahsoka and Darth Vader.

Most of his illustrations are made on a PC, and there’s a sketch-like quality about his digital creations which make the intensity of the colors stand out. There are some impressive line art, blocky shading, and very subtle and keen lightwork.

Ahsoka, Is That You?

Artist Rebekah Lynne Spence is known for her realistic illustrations of famous pop culture figures and she’s drawn them all from The Office’s Dwight to Queen’s Gambit’s Beth. She sticks to the key elements of Ahsoka’s look as seen on The Mandalorian and does not take any major liberties with the art, especially since she is making prints for commercial purposes. But, the artist does improvise some colors and plays up the contrasts in Ahsoka’s costume to make the piece sharper.

Instagram user Danielle is a professional graphic designer and visualizer who’s currently studying game art to become a concept artist, so her range is really quite diverse as she can work with several formats of illustrations.

Ahsoka Tano was a Togruta female who was discovered on her homeworld of Shili by Jedi Master Plo Koon; her heritage does not get a lot of attention on the show, but Danielle re-imagines Ahsoka in regal Egyptian attire and she also relies on some really stylized coloring work to fine-tune the contrasts.

Expert Speaks

Ahsoka fan art

Artist Jenna McMullins is a stickler for details, and this gorgeous Ahsoka fan art should be proof enough. She has done some other Ahsoka fan art pieces in the past, but this one stands out because it has such a fresh visual approach, and the side angle and the watercolor effect also really work for this piece.

I have been working on these companion pieces for two weeks and I’m so tired of fighting with the details. I was so frustrated with Starkiller that I could have screamed,” Jenna wrote on Instagram.
