Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5, "Chapter 13: The Jedi.

The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5, "Chapter 13: The Jedi" reveals Baby Yoda was saved from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during Order 66, but who saved him from being another youngling killed by Darth Vader? Through one and a half seasons of the Disney+ show, information about The Child has been difficult to come by. The Mandalorian held back on revealing much of anything from the creature's past and the overall secrecy inherited from Yoda only added to to the mystery.

With The Mandalorian now entering the back half of season 2, the show is starting to reveal much more. The arrival of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) in episode 5, titled "The Jedi," allowed her to provide Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and the audience with new information. She revealed that Baby Yoda's real name is Grogu and that he's suppressed his Force powers in the decades since the end of the Clone Wars to stay hidden. But, Ahsoka also told Din about Grogu's time living on Coruscant in the Jedi Temple ahead of Order 66.

Baby Yoda spent time on Coruscant under the watch of the Jedi Order before the end of the Clone Wars, according to Ahsoka. He was trained by Jedi Masters and was still at the Jedi Temple when the Republic fell. However, Ahsoka revealed that he was hidden shortly thereafter after someone took him from the temple. The former Jedi doesn't specify if the person who saved Baby Yoda from the temple was a Jedi or a non-Force wielder, but the insinuation is that this happened concurrently with Order 66. Although the end of the Clone Wars included Anakin Skywalker slaughtering Jedi younglings, Baby Yoda was spared from this massacre due to this rescue. But, there are only a handful of Jedi confirmed to have survived Order 66, and even fewer of them would be on or near Coruscant to pull off this rescue. So, who saved Baby Yoda?

One possibility for Baby Yoda's savior is Jocasta Nu. The Jedi Order's librarian was confirmed to survive Order 66 but it has yet to be revealed how this happened. As someone who was stationed at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Jocasta Nu would be in a position to save Baby Yoda from the Empire. Her wealth of knowledge about the Jedi and the galaxy as a whole could also mean that she knows much more about Baby Yoda than the average person. Once the Republic fell, Jocasta Nu made it her goal to preserve the Jedi Order's legacy, and saving Baby Yoda could be one additional way she could accomplish this goal.

There is also the chance that The Mandalorian could use someone who was presumed to be dead. This could potentially be used for Star Wars to officially confirm what fans and Samuel L. Jackson have wanted for years: Mace Windu's survival. The Jedi Master seemingly died after he got his hand cut off and fell out of the window of Sheev Palpatine's office. But, The Mandalorian has already brought Boba Fett back from the dead, so why not Mace too? Mace Windu could be one of the Jedi masters who trained Baby Yoda and knew of his high midi-chlorians count. Perhaps this led Mace to seek out Baby Yoda after shaking off his near-death experience.

Since Ahsoka didn't confirm that a Jedi was the one responsible for rescuing Baby Yoda, there's still a chance that someone outside the Jedi Order saved him. Someone close with the Republic, such as Mon Mothma, might have been responsible. But, The Mandalorian could also introduce a brand new character to the Star Wars canon and give them the past connection to Baby Yoda. It's unclear if The Mandalorian will reveal the identity of Baby Yoda's protector, so only time will tell if we learn the identity.
